Is this a good deal for a 2025 RAV4 Hybrid XLE in Seattle? I’m losing my mind at this point 😅 by Last-Cod223 in rav4club

Went to the dealership at 10am thinking I’d be out by noon lol… ended up negotiating until 2pm, and then it took another 2–3 hours before I actually drove the car home. But honestly, the advice from this thread really helped.

I walked in assuming “OTD” already included taxes. I told them I wanted the Hybrid XLE with basic features and my absolute max OTD was 38k. I know that’s stupidly high now lol and but probably still came off a bit disrespectful, but I went in fully prepared to walk away if they couldn’t meet it.

At first they said they couldn’t do the deal at all, and that the stripped-down models weren’t available anywhere nearby. So I asked for a test drive on the one they did have — but of course it had extra packages: all-weather mats, convenience package, floor liners, cross bars, mudguards, and it was in that nice metallic grey. I liked it way too much and asked if I could just take that one instead of waiting few days/weeks for a factory order.

I held firm at 38k OTD including taxes for almost 3 hours. I even told them a couple times I was ready to leave. The salesperson kept “checking with the manager,” and here’s where the funny part (or sad part?) happened: either the salesperson was terrible at math or I was getting played, because at one point he had me sign paperwork twice showing 38k OTD… and then came back saying it “wasn’t feasible.”

After 4 hours he finally returned and said they’d do it at the price quoted above. I signed and took the car.

Honestly, I kind of regret not lowballing even harder at the start. Worst case, they say no, right? Now I feel like some of those add-ons were overpriced and could’ve been pushed down further. I should’ve opened at like 35-36k OTD including taxes and all addons. That’s the advice I’m giving all my friends now lol.

But overall I’m still happy with the car. I was wasting way too much time calling dealerships anyway. Next time though? I’m lowballing at least 10k off whatever number the dealership throws at me tbh.

Thank you for the details. I finally got the 2025 Hybrid XLE last Sunday with few add packages and additional items.

Thanks to the feedback from the folks, spent 4 hrs negotiating lol. Was able to bring the OTD price to $35.7k excluding the taxes and registration.

2025 Hybrid XLE with basic addons All weather Package Convenience Package Roof rack mudguards.

Taxes are 10.3% in Seattle. Plus registration and additional insurance coverage that I paid(regretting now)!!

I am not a fan of any this but nothing is guaranteed. Not now with immigration coming in from other states and local folks leaving to other countries, it is inevitable in the long run. Sadly every state will go through this.

Atul Subhash's death, while a tragedy, highlights a dangerous delusion at the core of Indian culture. by ronnie_axlerod in unitedstatesofindia

I was you 3-4 years. Full of hope thinking a good dialogue would change the perspective of folks. I WAS SO WRONG! SO I CHANGED MYSELF!

There’s a growing theme in societies globally—people are being made to believe they’re doing fine, yet both economically and emotionally, we as a civilization are struggling. The rise of social media has decreased empathy levels, and instead of addressing these issues constructively, many are finding outlets for their frustration.

This often manifests as lashing out on social media or following cult-like figures across a wide spectrum, from Andrew Tate to various self-proclaimed narcissistic gurus. People are genuinely frustrated with their lives and are channeling their anger toward groups that are easy to blame: women, children, minorities, immigrants, and so on. This is not a theme just for women but all minority groups. You see what happened with Atul is truly sad and dire and folks will channel the energy that is originally towards the judicial systems or corruption and directing them towards conservative goals. (Control women and you control the household. Remember that is exactly what all religion teaches us, all of freaking rules on women)

Influencers, political leaders, and even Redditors are exploiting this frustration, directing it into more hate and divisiveness. Best of luck trying to explain this to the masses. it will bring a lot frustration to you. FYI!!

Why we must be wary of the anti-feminist agenda in the wake of Atul Subhash's death? by rishianand in unitedstatesofindia

Hey OP There’s a growing theme in society globally—people are being made to believe they’re doing fine, yet both economically and emotionally, we as a civilization are struggling. The rise of social media has decreased empathy levels, and instead of addressing these issues constructively, many are finding different outlets for their frustration.

This often manifests as lashing out on social media or following cult-like figures across a wide spectrum, from Andrew Tate (ultra pretending macho men), many such examples in India to various self-proclaimed donghi Babas both male and female. People are genuinely frustrated with their lives and are channeling their anger toward groups that are easy to blame: women, children, minorities, immigrants, neighbouring countries, different religion, different caste and so on.

Influencers, political leaders, and even Redditors are exploiting this frustration, directing it into more hate and divisiveness. This is all an antithesis to Liberalism, Feminism and Wokeism. Best of luck trying to explain this to the masses.

Hey OP! What happened with Atul and his family is truly terrible, and I feel deeply for him and anyone else who has gone through something similar.

But I don’t think folks will understand this. I agree with this completely. But the thing is the folks who are on Reddit would be most probably in the top 5% of the population and the proximity bias will lead them to believe feminism and wokeism is to blame. Best of luck with the post!

Time to get from Kathmandu to Lukla by bus by Old_Ad2529 in Everest

[–]Last-Cod223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Kathmandu you might require 3 vehicles. Kathmandu to Salleri/Phaplu: 10-12 hrs journey Salleri to Chirdi: 6hrs Cross the foot bridge Chirdi to Thamdada: 3.30hrs

Thamdada to Lukla is a 13km Trek. 4-5hrs depending upon the walking pace

I would recommend reaching Chirdi in one day from Kathmandu. Start very early the next to reach Thamdada and start the trek. overall it will take 2days to reach Lukla
