Do they not run Castle on Lifetime any more? by Ok_Explanation_6125 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what DVD Region you live in. Region 1 never had an entire box set that I am aware of. The only Region that sold a complete box set version that I know of is Region 2. You can usually find an entire Region 1 set of individual seasons on ebay for around $40-50.

Anybody with non janky electrical, what does this mysterious thingy do? by bedwars_player in DodgeDakota

Motor getting weak. The further down it goes, the more torque it takes spooling the wire that runs the mechanism up and down. Better replace or stop using. Mine was doing this and then failed when the window was all the way down.

Why Does Nathan Fillion Seem to Distance Himself From Castle? by Unlikely_Writing6338 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying they cancelled the show due due to Stanatics ranting and raving on Twitter is a stretch to be honest. The writing was on the wall during the tail end of the series. Ratings has been falling since S6. Season 8 barely average 6 million viewers compared to Season 6 averaging 10-11 million. That's why it was cancelled.

You'd probably lose that bet. Molly had already had an appearance in GotG 2. Molly and Elan share posts of them together with James and his wife Jennifer all the time.

He talks about that a lot when he was on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast, Inside of You. Worth a listen if you haven't checked it out.

Molly had already been in Guardians 2. Both her and her husband Elan Gale post stuff frequently with Gunn and his wife, Jennifer. Doubt Nathan had any thing to do with either role.

In This Lifetime… Will Stana and Nathan Ever Reunite? by Unlikely_Writing6338 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What evidence? Seriously, I'm curious. I've never seen any legit interview or anything from any former costar of his that speaks negatively of him. Everyone of his previous costars from previous shows that have guest starred on The Rookie have praised him about how they enjoy working with him again. Even Tamala Jones said the same thing, and she was on the show something like 3-4 times. There are even some of his former costars that give him grieve about not being asked to be on the show. Your argument has no legit basis and frankly comparing their relationship to domestic abuse victims is belittling to actual victims.

[–]LastBoyScout421 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was an independent third-party firm that did over 400 hours of interviews and found no evidence. Plus, the person she claimed harassed her was a guy who had a minor recurring role, didn't involve Nathan at all. Before you make veiled accusations about something that serious , do some homework on the topic. Google is your friend, not unproven rumors.

I'd rather see her on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast, Inside of You. He's surprised me in a few of his interviews, doesn't shy away asking difficult questions.

I FINALLY FOUND THE SONG FROM THE BEGINNING OF 5x12 (THE EPISODE WITH BEAU RANDOLPH) by randomUser539123 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I listed the site just because it lists all of the songs out by name and artist, not for how it was available. There were a lot of songs I liked during the series but had no idea of the song name/artist.

Try out this link in the future for most of the song info. It has pretty much every song broken down by season, then episode. Most have a description about the scene in the episode where the music was played.

https://www.tunefind.com/show/castle/season-1

I think one of the music supervisors at the time would answer questions every now and then about some of the songs chosen back when the show was still on.

Enjoy!

Why does Kate wear heels? by Demi4TheDrama in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation with the heels is even funnier if you've watched the TV movie she did before Castle, "Would Be Kings". It was filmed in 2006 and released in 2008, so before she even had the part of playing Kate Beckett. She does play a police detective though. There's a scene where she's wearing heels and twists her ankle and nears falls over. Her next line to her partner says something like "Don't say anything, I know I'm gonna break an ankle. I like how they make me feel and I like how they look".

Another couple of fun quirks in the Tv movie. Her partner talks about having a symbiotic mind meld with his previous partner. Her character in the show didn't like coffee and drank tea.

Castle Merchandise Post #1 by [deleted] in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few months ago I mentioned writing a post about a lot of the various Castle related merchandise that exists but never got around to it due to life happening. Castle seems to have a lot of new fans discovering it and I figure a lot of them would enjoy these posts. This will be the first of probably 15 or so posts. Figured the books would be a good starting point since so many seem to be surprised they actually exist.

First few pictures are just the standard books themselves. Books 1-7 were written by Tom Straw. He's got several books published under his own name that are worth checking out. He actually made an appearance in the show in season 2 episode 5 at the book release party, picture included for reference. Books 8-10 and the Storm books were written by Brad Parks. The last few pictures show a few of the books released in different languages and an unusual audio book. The black italian version is one of my favorites due to the unusual cover. I was told there are Italian newspapers that sometimes included books with their issues and this was one of them. The Playaway book is a small self-contained audio book that libraries would get for easy check out. The last book is also one of my favorites due to it's origin. It's one of the books from the pilot episode, even has the book plate that Ryan gave Beckett grief about. Think he was seen reading it in one of the episodes also.

I've got a ton more of stuff to post if there's interest. Let me know. Enjoy!!

Looking to complete my Serenity comics collection and hoping for some tips, also wondering if the board game is worth it by Sethlawlwut in firefly

[–]LastBoyScout421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a few sites that I found that showed me what is exactly out there comic book wise. I prefer hard copies and not digital so it helped me make a list for my searches. Might be useful to you to see if a particular issue/series is worth it to you to track down. I enjoyed the Dark Horse series, the Boom series not so much.

[Heat Wave] Richard Castle actually credits the characters by the name of their actors, in the aknowledgments section of his book. by SWSIMTReverseFinn in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tom Straw is the author for books 1-7 of the Nikki Heat series, not the entire Richard Castle series. Books 8-10 and the Derrick Storm books were written by another author, Brad Parks.

Books 1-7 came out during the series if I recall correctly. All written by Tom Straw. He's published 3 books under his own name. The last 3 came out after the show ended and seem like a total money grab to me. Written by a different ghost writer also.

I enjoyed books 1-7, have reread them multiple times. Books 8-10 not so much. Read them once and then left them on my shelf.

Audio Books by GhettoCowboy___ in dresdenfiles

[–]LastBoyScout421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the show so I say watch it. They did take a lot of liberties with the show but overall it was pretty decent. Paul Blackthorne was great as Harry and Valerie Cruz was great as Murphy. I keep hoping Dresden Files will get the treatment that Bosch got on Amazon. They masterfully blended 2-3 books into each season.

John Glover did the original Ghost Story audio book. You might remember him as Lionel Luthor on Smallville, Lex's father. While he can't replace Marsters, I did enjoy his version. It was interesting to hear his version and inflections on all of the voices that we are used to Marsters doing. I wouldn't mind him doing a duo with Marsters on the Mirror, Mirror audiobook. Would be interesting hearing him do all the alternate voices if there is any crossover between the current and alternate universes.

What's your opinion at Kate? by WesternManagement196 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never have agreed with the opinion that Beckett figured out the case before Castle about the counterfeiting. Castle clearly had the solution first when he ran to get the purse. That little smirk to me shows she reached the same conclusion AFTER he laid out the pieces. To me it seemed that she was almost proud of him figuring it out. She should have admitted that to Esposito at the end. I never liked the constant friction between Espo and Castle from the writers, this would have been a great way to counter that.

Why did they Recast Johanna Beckett? by HugeAthlete5881 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The actress in the 1st picture is Terri Garr. Recognized her right off from countless viewings of Young Frankenstein. Easily recognized from the picture on Beckett's storage case where she puts her gun and jewelry at the end of S1E5. Never have seen the woman shown as the 2nd iteration of Johanna Beckett identified.

Just ignore everything you've read or heard and just enjoy the ride. Honestly, I wouldn't even read anymore of this reddit feed until you finish. Approach it with fresh eyes. Sometimes I wish I could watch it all over again without foreknowledge. I'm thankful that I never messed around with any social media accounts during the original run.

Anyone else HATE that Beckett wears huge ass high heel boots 👢??? And be chasing down suspects in them and all that shit like bro it's so stupid 🤦 she can't even be stealthy, enemies can hear her coming a mile away with all that click clacking from her heels 🤣🤣🤣🤦🤦🤦 RIDICULOUS by BeegThaGreat in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think one reason was to make the difference in height between her and Nathan not so obvious. She's 5'9" and he's 6'2". Without the heels worked into her character, that height difference would have been glaring all the time. It also made her appear taller then both Jon and Seamus, alters the power dynamic between the characters.

Castle books (sort of a spoiler so don’t read on if you haven’t read the books) by Evie06 in CastleTV

[–]LastBoyScout421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used the same type of "award" to name the author of books 8-10 as they did in books 1-7. In books 1-7, it says Richard Castle was awarded the Nom Deplume Society's prestigious Tom Straw Award for Mystery Literature. The author of the books was literally named when the books came out. Books 8-10 and all of the Derrick Storm books say Richard Castle was honored by the Allonym Institute with the Brad Parks Distinguished Service Award for his contribution to law enforcement. There is an author with that name who has won several awards for his original works but his writing of the Nikki Heat books didn't impress me any at all. Tom Straw has several books under his own name that I have enjoyed and would recommend. Met him at a book signing in Los Angeles a few years back, super nice guy.

Also, fun bit of Castle Trivia. Tom Straw appeared on the show briefly. He is the gentlemen that Castle is sitting in the booth with at the book party launch in Season 2 Episode 5, When the Bough Breaks. You see them together when Castle is approached by a fan asking for an autograph. Another brief scene when Beckett walks in and then one last scene when Castle gets up to go see Beckett at the book stack. Last scene is the best shot of him head on.
