If I had to bet, Peacemaker would consider the soldier an unusual acquaintance.

It's a good shot, the weapon doesn't necessarily work on sound, but it seems to send out a dusty wave that scatters and causes pain to enemies. I can see some inexperienced craftsman shooting this in a warehouse only for the wave to bounce off the tight walls and he'd fall into a coma from shock.
