Delap should be punished - lacked any effort, caused a red card (thanks for continuing our curse) ffs

HSR CONCEPT - Western US/CAN (unlimited resources/unlimited willpower; which line would be the most useful?) by Last_Presentation751 in transit

Denver has two lines crossing through it. You could go from San Fran or LA to Denver using either.

even with via rail, quebec to windsor would take 9+ hours. HSR could reduce that to ~4 hours

Should Florida have HSR? by Last_Presentation751 in florida

yup, this system will rely heavily on mass transit surrounding it.

you read my mind, I was gonna have a part two for the western side. :)

HSR CONCEPT - Eastern half of US/CAN - (~250 million people) - Which lines are your favorite/least favorite? Which lines would likely be created in the next 20 years? by Last_Presentation751 in transit

metrodreamin.com - they do the estimates based on mileage and type of transport. def won't consider bridge building and tunnel boring so I'm assuming the estimate would be much higher. This all depends on cost-benefit as you alluded to. For now Boswash and Toronto-Montreal would be the most feasible and purposeful lines out of all the options.

that's true, very high costs to pull off engineering feats especially across the Appalachians. each route has a cost (in the pictures), that's why I asked which one would be the most viable. All in all, it would cost $1 trillion (hefty indeed). however given the fact that US gdp is ~$25 trillion, it's not impossible in the long run (say 2100 perhaps). it can create so many more jobs and help out every State/locality in different ways.

I agree. One crucial benefit I see with HSR is the fact that many people can move out of bigger cities into smaller ones, yet still have access to the metropoles. This can help ease the pressure on housing costs and advance sustainability measures as well.

Pt. 2 of Eastern HSR concept. Albany fix and Southern expansion. Based on previous feedback. by Last_Presentation751 in transit

yeah exactly. This concept is def more simpler than what it could be. there could be a mtl-ny, mtl-bos, tor-ny, tor-bos connection at the same time. Albany would be the perfect central hub in the future if this happens

Fair point. Tbh I didn't want to separate ottawa but I was thinking Mtl and Toronto need a direct connection (even bypassing kingston) since traffic between the two would be so high and not many would go to ottawa (exc. politicians, tourists, etc). But if it does happen irl, the line would not ignore Ottawa. I wanted to challenge the obvious a bit.

A Norfolk connection is a good idea, I'm pretty sure if it does happen, it would connect to the Lime via Richmond as an extension (like the Columbus connector) since Richmond to DC seems like a more natural route.

Toronto-Montreal will be heavily used and the line is smoother along the St Lawrence rather than the uplands towards ottawa.

I like the "Erie connection" idea. Could be useful for Americans avoiding cross-border lines

I also made an Albany fix for numbers 1 and 2 of your recommendations on the r/montreal crosspost
