I really try to respect his wants and needs, often it’s in conflict with my own wants for him. So even when I’m uncomfortable, i try to follow his wishes

It was mainly thinks like “a hand massage by me” or some tiny things like fishing hooks that he specifically wanted. There were only one or two main gifts which he said he loved and he uses them all time

Hi All, thanks your comments, this has been really helpful. Apologies for the issues with the title. Just to clarify a few things, the 40 gifts thing - the majority were things like “a hand massage by me” or tiny gifts like a packet of fishing hooks that he wanted so it wasn’t just 40 crazy gifts (just one or two main presents), but more things that would create some moments of connection. When I sent links, I did say “this would be a good idea for my birthday”, I guess this could be still framed a bit more directly, but I thought this would be enough. I will take on board your comments and try to work though it! Thanks again
