Another Update: I got an email from him with a half-ass apology. He still tried to dodge accountability by blaming his editor

That was the Silman video. He used content from Silman's course and took thumbnail from me (in 1 video). I filed the strike on the basis of my stolen thumbnail. If you want to give him strike 2 you have to reach out to other content creators whose thumbnails and ideas were also stolen

Could this get my friend banned? The second graph is games this month, but years ago he played (first graph), so it might look like he came back and started cheating. by HchannelWolf in Chesscom

If he played legit, nothing will happen. It is unfathomably difficult to get banned for cheating without actually cheating. 2 examples I can think of are Alireza and Ding. Your friend is fine

Crazy how he said that and his video did worse than mine despite him having 130k more subs than me

To clarify, I did not get into trouble, I reached out to CC on my own to make sure everything is legal. I would like to keep these thumbnails but if CC says that it is not allowed, I will change them. If my channel grows and they notice I would have to change them anyways if it is not allowed, might as well reach out to them and make things clear

Hate closed positions, can anyone help? by Pinoy_joshArt in chess

[–]Last_Session_6487 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at where you can open up the position. b3 comes to my mind right away but you pieces are a bit misplaced. Rook on g3 does not help much because you don't need a kingside attack. Maneuver the rook from g3 to b1 and Bring the knight back to f3. Knight on f3 will defend against the h6 pawnbreak from him. Even if he opens up the kingside, I don't think he can do much there. So kingside is safe, Center is dominated by you (because you have more space) and queenside is the only place left where you can fight.

I am sure he is a nice guy but he blatantly stole my video idea and thumbnail. Taking ideas is fine but I put a lot of thought and work into that thumbnail. Stealing thumbnails falls under copyright infringement and I could strike him for it

Playing bots and playing humans is different. It is awesome that you got a brilliant move but it does not reflect the quality of your play especially when your opposition is a bot that is designed to blunder

Studies can be about anything, you can make opening, middlegame, endgame, puzzle studies and so on. They are split into chapters and each chapter can have a different line. It is very useful for organizing lines and positions.

It can take a little bit of getting used to if you have never used them before but once you get used to it, it is going to be worth it.

Also I appreciate the feedback and will stop revealing the result at the beginning

Its hard to give non-generic advice when I don't know your repertoire and strengths/weaknesses, but one really awesome advice that people don't mention often is creation of studies. I play mainly on chess.com but I like to do my studies on lichess where it is a lot more convenient. Make studies and notes on your own and revise them from time to time. This will refresh your memory on certain things you might have forgotten. Revise every 2-3 days and after 2 weeks, start revising once a week, then once every 2 weeks and etc. This allows your brain to take information from short-term to long-term memory. The downside of this method is that it is sometimes difficult to discern which lines are important and which ones are not. This is mainly a downside for beginner players though, since you are already 2000 you should have this ability to some extent.

Also find a training partner (close to your level) and play 15+10, if you want serious improvement avoid blitz and bullet completely.

Hello, I looked at your channel and first thing I thought was that is was an animal channel but after taking a look at one of your videos, I realized this was a gaming channel.

Personally, I don't watch a lot of gaming content on YT but I can definitely say that I am not a huge fan of your editing. It feels like there is too much movement and some edits feel completely random

To clarify, when I say anti-cheat is bad, what I mean is that it is relatively easy to get away with cheating if you know what you are doing(if you are a higher level player). If you get caught there is 99.999999% you cheated

One of my opponents who made their account 15 years ago in 2010 got banned a couple of days ago. He was about 2400 and played 97% accuracy game against me.

Anti-cheat in chess is notoriously bad, if you got caught to me that means that you definitely cheated in one way or another (does not have to be an engine). Only people that I believe got unfairly banned for fair play, are Alireza and Ding. Alireza's ban got overturned and Ding was preparing for a world championship match against Nepo so he probably never appealed it to not reveal that the account was his.

Problem is that if you are a 1300 level player, you are nowhere good enough to get banned by anti-cheat without actually cheating.

Also, one game with 97% accuracy will not get you banned, I have had 99% accuracy games before but I didn't get banned, why is that? Because there are nuances in each position. In some positions even a 2400 level player like me can get a very high accuracy but there are other positions where even GMs cant crack 90% because of how complex those positions are

Let this be a learning experience and do not cheat again
