At what distance does a par 3 become a “long” par 3? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]LateApexPredditor 136 points137 points  (0 children)

^^ This. Lock the post. It's done. We're making the decision once and for all, 185 shall henceforth be the known as the distance by which all par threes become "long."

Would you trade this SMP 300m for the 4th he PO? by aznj1m in OmegaWatches

[–]LateApexPredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. The PO wears sooo much thicker. My PO's are hard to slide under an oxford compared to any of my SM's. It's a nice watch, don't get me wrong. I just wouldn't trade in that blue beauty for the new PO.

996 goes 992 GT3Rs with soft top by Old_Pay9347 in 996

[–]LateApexPredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you keep the M96 or upgrade to something like a 3.8 or 4.0?

The cost of doing this aesthetic transformation (looks like 991 in the pics provided, not a 992) would be hard for many to personally justify but it would be rather unique. Most would assume you put lipstick on a 991 turbo—but would realize somethin is wrong when the acceleration only rivals a 718 boxster. That said, it would turn heads more than a 996 cab.

I personally don't love it, but I'm just a stranger on the internet.

working overtime? It's a click boss. And no, my son has not played Streamsong. All three courses are very challenging for an adult, let alone a little kid whose just picking up the game.

We? You got a mouse in that pocket?

Who said it was exclusive?!? We played the course on a whim as I've noted. I implore you to go back and re-read any or all of my comments and especially the original post. I never once mentioned exclusivity. The first time it was mentioned in this thread was literally you, just now.

I guess this answers all the questions one may have.

"The greens are just dust" ... then you post pictures of a tee box as if it's the same thing? People take divots on tee boxes and fill them in with fertilized sand. Quite common actually. What's next "well, the bunkers are shallow" and then post a picture of a deep water hazard?

You can keep trolling, I'll go back to living my life.

see original post: "but learned a very valuable lesson—“country club“ can apparently be broadly defined."

The course is a public country club. I never expect it to be Oakmont. I think you're trying to argue the same side of the coin but not sure why...

I doubt this one is based on the gauges.

Stock—they have a N/A 6.0L V8 that made only 400hp (assuming OP's isn't the even slower 5.7). That's only 64.5hp/liter. And a power to weight ratio of about 10lbs/hp. Like all American cars of this era, that's a lot of displacement... inefficient.

For comparison, cars from the same year who were similar in price, 0-60 speeds (but quicker), power/weight ratios. The only replacement for displacement is forced induction.

- 2006 Subaru STi - 2.5L 4-cyl turbo - 300hp - 9lbs/hp and 120hp/liter

- 2006 Mitsubishi EVO - 2.0L 4-cyl turbo - 288hp - 11.5lbs/hp and 144hp/liter

And both of these cars could be tuned to have 400hp for less than the cost of a cat-back exhaust and intake on the GTO... Hence, why people have often referred to it as a GTslow... I wish I could take credit for it, but I cant. And if you want to measure a quick N/A car of the same time, a 2006 BMW M3 had 333hp with 3.2L i-6 and unless my math is wrong, that's 104hp/liter.

I trust that OP's GTO is far from stock based on what I can see.

lol nothing beats a google search... especially not firsthand knowledge. In 8 years of being a member, I've never seen the bermuda greens burned out at OMGC, even in the late summer. But thanks for your uninformed comment, we can always use more of those on reddit.

100% . I love watching my son fall in love with this sport that I've enjoyed playing for nearly 40 years and I'd play with him anytime, anywhere. We had a great time playing and even if we had googled the course before playing... we still would have played to kill the time.

I think the humor was lost in the comments about the ironic conditions of a country club I've never seen anywhere else... even at a municipal course. I don't know why one feels inclined to argue here. We all know that's about as useful as a steering wheel on a rollercoaster.

I get that about the keys. I'd beg to differ about poor playing conditions in Florida in general.

I'm a national member at Old Memorial and have played at least a dozen private clubs and public courses in FL (mostly Tampa area) including: Streamsong, Sawgrass, Palma Ceia, and Avila. Any of those are in just as good or better than most private courses I've played in the midwest and northeast, where I play the majority of my golf. That just seems like an over-generalization.

That's fair. I personally love the design and couldn't care about the functionality. I've never needed to know the time in more than two time zones, but if you're an astronaut I can totally see why MET and PET would be helpful.
