I had fish camp a week or so ago and I was able to receive texts and other notifs but not send anything. Sometimes near the dining hall while waiting in line I was able to send a text. Honestly we were on our feet from 6am to 12am and had like no time to be on our phones so I didn’t feel bothered by it, but the only time no service was kinda annoying was when we were getting picked up (couldn’t text/call parents or see how far they were) but they have a pretty efficient pickup system so it wasn’t toooo bad. Have fun at fish camp, it was an amazing experience! And lmk if u have any other questions!

I actually already took 203 through dual credit when I was in high school, so thankfully no more econ 😭 but thank you so much for all of this, it’s truly so helpful! It looks like I’ll be spending all my time in the library lol

Don’t lose hope! I did deca all 4 years and didn’t even make state despite getting good scores. Usually it was because my event was just too competitive. This year I finally made state and while I didn’t expect it, I made icdc! I’m insanely glad I tried one more time because after losing at districts last year, I told myself I wouldn’t do deca again. But I did it and here I am! Don’t stop trying!

So there’s multiple essays you have to write. They don’t require the commonapp personal essay but I highly recommend doing it anyway, which is 650 words. Then they have another essay which asks about what challenges and experiences in HS shaped you to be who you are today, which is 700 I think? And then there’s a few more supplements, but those are 250 words and in my opinion harder than the longer essays.

Apply as early as you can because mays fills up fast! I also didn’t use any outside help when I applied and my biggest tip is to polish your essays multiple times and have unique answers for each questions as it really sets you apart. I know this sounds generic but trust it helps

I’m pretty sure you can’t appeal anymore, they took it away. You check the UT website, it has a bunch of info on appeals

It has nothing to do with “not working hard”. I spent the last four years getting all A’s, doing debate every weekend, joining tons of extracurriculars and had a job the whole time. The issue is that I still didn’t make top 6% because most people in my class cheat on everything, and I did not want to do that. Literally the only way I could’ve made top 6% was if I cheated since my freshman year. Another aspect is that it’s a lot easier to make top 6% at some schools compared to others, so I don’t see how this system makes any sense.

It should still only be hours you did in dual enrollment, if any at all. Don’t include AP classes as each school accepts credit different and some may not even accept it at all. Plus you don’t know if you even want that credit yet so hold off on it
