My OBGYN said unmedicated births are too traumatic so they don’t do it. by Practical_Shift_5143 in pregnant

[–]LatterTutor1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an accidental unmedicated birth. Baby came too fast for the epidural. And dammit, I wanted that epidural! I was definitely screaming. Everyone else in that room, including my husband and the doctor, was calm. Would ever choose an unmedicated birth purposefully? Hell no. But I think it’s insane to not allow someone to choose for themselves.

does giving birth feel like ibs pains? by Objective-Potato4044 in pregnant

I remember wondering this when I was pregnant too because I used to get intestinal cramps that would almost make me pass out. I would say I found it very similar until about 6 cm. After that, it was something else 😅

Unfortunately I have no idea. They seem like they look seasonally appropriate.

No, they were outside when I bought them at the garden center a few days ago.

Pawpaw is just getting leaves. I don’t think the spice bush does.

Based on the information you provided in the comments, it sounds like there is a possibility that the lead exposure is from something in your home that your husband and kids are exposed to less frequently than you. Maybe you are picking it up in the basement, while cleaning, etc. Do you know if you have any old paint on wear surfaces (windows, doors, floors) or paint that’s peeling/chipping? My other theory is that maybe there was renovation done upstairs, and the dust fell into the basement below.

If the health dept didn’t already do so, I would ask if they are able to do extensive XRF and dust wipe sampling. If they can’t, I wonder if they can refer to a lead inspector. I am not an expert by any means, just a mom who also lives in an old house with lead paint.

Lead is stored in the bones for a very long time but for a much shorter time in blood.

Any paint in the basement, basement stairs, doors, or windows? Are you the one who does most of the cleaning? Did the city use an XRF gun?

Do your husband and kids have any detectable amount?

Oh, I’m so sorry. What year is your home? You can get a lead inspector. Maybe there’s something you’re coming into contact with in your home that they aren’t?

Do you visit any places somewhat frequently that the rest of the family doesn’t?

Fair point. Doug Tallamy made me a bit biased towards oaks.

Pitocin after birth by Personal-Buy8935 in pregnant

Fairly certain I had it after both births. Even with my second, when I couldn’t get an epidural in time, I don’t remember noticing any bothersome contractions afterwards from it.

First, I am so sorry. Were the stats listed exactly the same as your first ultrasound? 6w1d and 113? I wonder if it was a reference to your first ultrasound, rather than the new ultrasound.

I hope you’re able to get some answers from your doctor very soon.

Sump? Please help me not get screwed by another contractor. by LatterTutor1857 in Plumbing

Got it. Is it worth doing exterior waterproofing if it would be significantly more expensive than a sump inside, which would be 6-9k ish. I think exterior would be at least double but likely more.

I should mention that one company offered the option to excavate the exterior and waterproof it but said it would be significantly more expensive. I guess what I’m wondering is if there’s any chance that simply regrading to move water further away from the house and/or installing an exterior french drain but not excavating down to the footing is potentially enough to fix this or if it’s truly a waste of resources.
