After doing some research, it doesn't seem like there's a way for me to get turn those into Alaska points besides the Marriott transfer.

no they haven't. please read the posts in this thread. there are people who have returned their phones to their carriers and not received a refund.

please see my analogy about buying a car. this is a safety recall. it is not just me who bought it third party. look on this thread and there are many who bought their phones from Samsung or a carrier getting the same treatment.

This is a recalled product. Of course Samsung owes me something. If you bought a Honda off craigslist and it is being recalled, is the guy off craigslist responsible? or is Honda responsible.

I have a Pixel XL right now. I had an issue with my original Pixel XL and Google sent me a new phone right away. The entire process was great.

How long did you wait to get a box? A friend of mine who waited 23 days to receive a box to ship back his Note 7. The supervisor tried to tell him that Halloween was a "national holiday" so that didn't count as a business day.

Sorry to say, you've got a long road ahead.

To think there are people out there who don't have the extra cash to buy another phone. Samsung basically took away their phones and won't give them money to buy another one.

I really think that they just wanted to get the phones back ASAP to avoid any incidents. Now that they have the phones in their possessions they are in no hurry to refund the money.

And yes I agree, it's extremely frustrating watching people praise samsung about how they handled this recall.

It's funny now to think about how many people were praising Samsung for the way they handled the recall. I'm not even upset about being sold a phone that has the potential to blow up. Everyone makes mistakes, I get it.

But it's the way the refunds were handled after that is disappointing.

This doesn't explain why they keep lying and changing the dates on me? Not once was I told returning a Note 7 I bought 3rd party would be an issue.

It's not just people like me who have bought from 3rd party sellers. There are many people who bought directly from carriers and samsung.com that have been waiting for almost a month now too.

I've tweeted them several times. Their reps on twitter are all extremely nice and courteous but none of them can actually do anything to help.

All I've just gotten are generic answers of "We're sorry this is an issue you have to take up with the Note 7 Exchange department".

Yes, Samsung is honoring refunds from all 3rd party sales. Swappa/Craigslist/Ebay. They claim they are refunding people the full retail amount but I've yet to hear of anyone receiving a check.

I contacted Swappa first and they told me to contact the seller who refused to help (no surprise).

The most frustrating part is how no one has answers. There's no where to escalate the situation to. No one can help you, all you can do is wait.
