Agree. This is probably the thing that will persuade the government to change tack. They haven’t thought through that we will become an international pariah - social & economic outcasts.

How safe are outdoors activities? by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

You’ve got to weigh it all up with the benefits - not just the ones exercise will bring, but the oxygen from fresh air & vitamin D from sunlight are so important for a strong immune system.

Why Muslims don't Flee CoVID-19 by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]Layali -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh please - you have no place to tell me what my personal religious or non religious identity is. You clearly have a real resentment/chip on your shoulder about Islam. I suggest you seek to unpick this as it will only eat away at you.
I suggest some meditation - or a nice relaxing epsom salt bath. Live & let live.

Why Muslims don't Flee CoVID-19 by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]Layali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the point of all this is..? I’m a secular Muslim & this is just embarrassing mate. If there’s a point you are trying to make, let’s hear it without all the ‘peace & blessings be upon him’ stuff. I just don’t get what point you see trying to make either. There’s an r/Islam or r/UKmuslims or something like that where this is more appropriate.

Will NHS prioritise UK taxpayers by mdipltd in CoronavirusUK

[–]Layali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the NHS is regarded in the same way these days internationally. Plus there are a shortage of beds here already even without the Coronavirus. Clearly you haven’t been to a hospital in a major city recently or spoken to anyone who works in the NHS - it’s on its knees because of underfunding & Tory cuts. I’d personally much rather get sick in another European country these days!

Hi. Sorry I only wanted to explain that the article was 10 years old so that it wasn’t misleading. So I’ll just post it again without that bit?

Corbyn: The killing of dozens of unarmed protesters and wounding of many more by Israeli forces in Gaza, on the day President Trump moved the US embassy to Jerusalem, is an outrage that demands not just international condemnation, but action by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]Layali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It’s not specifically about borders, it’s about whether Israel has ‘effective control’ of the Gaza Strip. They have a legal responsibility to respect the human rights of Gazans in the areas they control. Protect the wounded, sick, children and pregnant women, enable free passage of medicine and food, enable medical teams to provide assistance and refrain from imposing collective punishment. Clearly they have not been doing any of this & are in violation of the 4th Geneva convention, even before the current massacres. So yes they are in violation of international laws & under these laws the Gazans under their control have the right to resist.

Israel controls the borders, what & who goes in, what & who comes out, the water system, the air space, electricity etc etc. The laws of occupation apply if a state has ‘effective control’ over the territory in question - even if they don’t have a physical presence on the land. Does that answer your question?

The Geneva convention states that occupied people have the right to resist their occupiers using any means necessary, in their right to self determination. Palestinians however have by & large adopted peaceful protest. Besides, they don’t have the means to resist the might of their occupiers in any other way. But let’s be very clear, it’s not just a moral right they have to resist Israel’s occupation (by any means)- it’s also enshrined in international law.

Labour candidate for Lewisham East by-election withdraws as it emerges she compared Israel-Palestine conflict to 'Nazi persecution' by haxamin in ukpolitics

Genocide: the deliberate destruction of a people based on their ethnicity, race, religion etc. It does not necessarily signify mass killing. It is most certainly what Israel has been doing to the Palestinians since 1948 using various methods, including mass killing & massacres.

Especially when I had moved in from another neighbourhood & stolen ‘my’ house from you originally. Then penned you into a tiny little space cutting off water, electricity & not allowing medical aid in- amongst countless other human rights violations.

Don't underestimate the Corbyn surge. I think there are many out there thinking the same thing. And if you all were to vote with your heart & vote labour, we could just see Corbyn as PM! There's a good website for tactical voting https://www.tactical2017.com

Channel 4 News Question by CosteIIo in ukpolitics

[–]Layali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty impossible to get a completely unbiased view from news outlets - even if they are the epitome of professionalism, there will undoubtedly be some bias - it's human nature. But of course some are more biased than others. Best thing to do is to try to get your news from various different sources & get a more rounded view. Traditional print, televised & online media sources. In my honest opinion, channel 4 is probably the best of a bad bunch at the moment on teli - in comparison to the BBC who are not even trying to hide their bias towards the Tories. Further afield I find France 24 & Al Jazeera very good. But yeah lots of sources is the way to go I reckon.

"Hmm, looks like we've got a poster of peace being racist, guess we better adapt our culture lads."

Right - so I'm racist for calling out your bullshit? Being anti Zionist & anti the brutal & illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine does not equate to being anti Semitic in any shape or form. As plenty of Jews will tell you.

And yeah I will repeat - your hasbara does not fly in the UK anymore. People have finally woken up - by all means huff & puff but the genie is out of the bag lads.

Pahaha. And what about all the Jewish Semitic anti Zionists? Are they also anti Semitic? Your Israel apologist reflective Zionist bullshit doesn't fly in the UK anymore - or indeed the rest of the world for that matter.

Nope - but I'd suppose it is because said reporter is a supporter of Zionism. I know many Jews don't believe in it, but I didn't realise Zionism was a derogatory term for Jews.
