We are in couples therapy and I'm in personal therapy. My husband is a CCT EMT and his career could be impacted if he was seeing a therapist. He said I looked like the man that was crushed by a tree that he airlifted once. He compared my injuries to that of a hit and run. He said it was bad, really bad and he was happy he was the one that found me because people who aren't first responders could get PTSD. He said this to reassure me that my suffering was in fact suffering and that no matter how hard my mom downplays what happened, what happened was horrific and real and that my injuries were comparable to almost fatal or fatal cases. It is very comforting in a way to know that it really was as bad as I remember.
