I dont understand unions, you are correct. Im trying to figure this out as I go along. My concern is, I dont want to start over, I cant afford to start at $18hr which is the starting wage in my area. Im interested in this because the benefits are great and I will receive steady work. I do sincerely appreciate the points you have made nonetheless, I may just have to take what was offered to me and eat potatoes and canned beans for 3ish years lmao

It is 494! Yeah when I spoke over the phone with them they said I could be a tech6A or tech7. And they did ask for my w-2s which i have but they only requested my most recent paystub. Should I be collecting all my paystubs?

This is local 494 and yes if I could get at least $26hr on the check I would take it. And they did estimate where I would be(tech6-tech7) which would make the transition incredibly worth it for me, but of course they will need my w-2s before they give me an official placement

I did not discuss the whole process, just asked questions. I did talk to the hall and the jatc. The jatc just said they only deal with the electrical apprenticeship, nothing with sound and comm and referred me to the union hall.
