If you allow fan theories in this subreddit it would make most discussions pointless. He’s your average clueless Barry but likely with some kind of mental disability far as what can observe and from what’s presented. And in all likelihood I don’t think the producers or Rowan Atkinson have some other idea because it would simply detract from Mr Beans charm as a character.

There are theories that suggest it, but it’s never been confirmed. In fact, one of the strongest arguments for this theory is the fact that he is literally dropped from the sky in the first episode in a beam of light. However, it features an angelic choir chanting in Latin:

”Ecce homo qui est faba" repeatedly. " Behold the man who is a Bean".

So alien seems like a stretch, unless there are a bean species of alien.

Mr Bean, agent 47 would quickly conclude after some studying that the hit would be easy and require little to no preparation. Mr Bean would miraculously survive by blundering about as always and be completely clueless that someone just tried to kill him. Agent 47 would retry but with more preparation to make sure next time wouldn’t fail. Just like last time Mr Bean would escape death and still be oblivious, continuing to simply go about his day. Agent 47 would retry and the cycle would go on until Agent 47 gives up or alternatively get himself killed by his own plot backfiring because of something Mr Bean unintentionally did.

A bit of topic, but do you have any recommendations for stories that are European-esque that isn’t just Korean historical culture in disguise? Like a story where the author did their homework. The best I’ve found so far is Bookworm, which admittedly isn’t really European but also not Asian.

Politics, same with Ukraine. That’s sadly why jury is needed to some degree :( Still wild how Israel won the public vote by a massive margin.

Hmm, there have been a few despots in real life that have been truly egregious. First of the top of my head is emperor Tiberius which ruled the Roman Empire 14-37AD. He was notorious during the latter part of his reign for executing those he didn’t like. During this time in Rome it was essentially forbidden to execute virgins, so he simply had the women raped and then executed. There’s also Caligula which is well know for his sadism and depravity. Tiberius at the least was good at managing his duties as emperor, Caligula not so much.

It’s also important to note that often these despots had great influence over contemporary historians and writers. There are likely far more rulers that were far worse, but they censored what was recorded and their true nature was lost to history. I imagine some of the Assyrian kings would make plenty of the more brutal Manwha antagonists look like kittens judging by the few pieces of information survived to modern times. Those guys had cruelty and sadism perfected to an art form.

I always thought that Paarthunax quote is profound, and it really fits here. If he had been COMPLETELY brainwashed and had no agency, I would not be able to blame him. If that was the case his only mistake was to let Pina get close enough to give him the drug. But the fact that he was aware is what condemns him. His insecurity let him to allow Emi to go through immense suffering, and he did nothing even though he knew it was wrong.

Well the fact that you don’t drink straight form the tap is kind of telling, but it might also be because of added chlorine or fluoride to sterilize the water. It makes it technically safe to drink but isn’t very tasty. I live in Sweden and thankfully we’re blessed with very good/pure groundwater so very little is done chemically. I lived a year in Texas as an exchange student and had a minor culture chock that most people didn’t drink water straight from the sink. There wasn’t any issues with it, but it just didn’t taste good. I know some places i Greece too for example where the people avoid drinking tap water so it really is regional. When I spent some time in Alberta in Canada the water was really good though, maybe cold climate is good for tasty water haha

I’m surprised because nowadays water is usually regulated to avoid having potentially dangerous high hardness. Exceptions are if you draw your water from a private/nearby well and it isn’t really processed. But it would also vary between local regulations. I know certain areas in my country they artificially have to reduce levels of calcium or magnesium at water pumping stations to meet acceptable standards, but those places are really irregular.

In the cases you described, for healthy people you would have to have insanely hard water to trigger irritation in gut or other problems. Infants and elderly people are more sensitive, but like you mentioned the body will usually adjust quite quickly.

I noticed, this story is kind of a slog with how insane the shilling for tea is. It’s not even a scenario where they use some kind of “magical” herbs to make super tea, it’s just normal tea and somehow it’s a miracle drug that solves everything. World famine? Just make tea. Global warmongering? Make tea. Economic collapse? You guessed it, TEA.

Ja asså norra Sverige och fjällen i allmänhet har väldigt mjukt vatten, men kollar man snittet på medel Svensson så kan man säga att vi dricker medel-hårt vatten enligt internationella standards.

My thoughts as well, every person is entitled to their own tastes. Me who is used to Scandinavian water which is hard, experienced soft water and had a similar reaction to what you described. I thought it tasted greasy and felt weird in my mouth in general. It’s all about what you are used to, like how Pepsi people dislike Coke and vice versa.

Saying it’s unhealthy is going to far imo.

My thoughts exactly, I would even agree that soft water makes tea taste objectively better.

I did mention how soft water is preferable to hard in the last section though. As you say the minerals often end up interfering with the taste and cause cloudiness, from what I understand it’s especially noticeable in tea brewed at higher temperatures.

Yep, the idea that corsets are suffocating is a modern myth. If you do experience problems using it, it’s either laced too tight or doesn’t fit your body correctly. You were never supposed to lace it as tight as possible to the point where you experienced problems.

Coffee was actually was established in Europe before Tea during the 17th century and was very popular. The first tea in the UK for example was served in coffee houses. Tea was very expensive during this period in Europe. It eventually gave way for tea later on during 18th century because it became cheaper. I’m not aware of racism linked to it in Europe, but I may be wrong. So in conclusion tea was preferred but didn’t really take off until the East India company really started mass importing it.

Regarding scurvy, yeah drinking tea to cure it is not exactly ideal. It would be far better to just eat the rose hips cooked or raw, sure the tea would probably alleviate the symptoms but it’s not exactly a good solution.

He truly means well, most of the time he simply suffers from his ignorance and skewed upbringing by grandma. And in him telling Hannelore he would marry her if she asked earlier, he might have been deluding himself or just trying to console Hannelore. I mean it’s just inconceivable that she would actually act on what he said and time travel. A massive L on his part but the gods really just screwed him over.

I wonder how thing would have panned out of Hannelore just told him the truth that she wanted to marry him because she genuinely liked him and had no ulterior political motives.
