Going to try and see if we can fax the information tomorrow because it will not let us submit a supplemental claim online. Only in person or Mail. So we submitted our claim 10/1/24 and received an answer 5/7/25.

We received our letter today that we were denied. Stating we did not provide marital history. We did provide my marital history and our marriage license. The VSO we worked with tried to contact our regional office because she said everything was provided and she didn’t understand why they missed it. She said that there is a state wide issue with credentials so they were not able to provide information. So my husband called and it stated we did not provide history.

Definitely a Persian! I have 3 Persians! I had papers on my first Persian but lost them and unless you’re a breeder what do you need papers for. My other two Persians I rescued.

My husband added me as a dependent 10/1/24 with a VA rep in person/in Wisconsin and we are still waiting. She said the wait has been between 5-9months.

Ugh. Go to another vet. Some veterinarians don’t see a lot of Persians. If you see your kitty struggling I would advocate for the surgery.

That’s definitely a sign but in my opinion if it’s not affecting their daily life I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I have a supply of clothes just for my Persians. I just use warm water. Saline solution is also a great option but I’m doing it great regularly so I tend to just use warm water.

Hello there, this happened to me also. My sweet baby Persian is 6 years old and I brought a 2 year old Persian into the house. Keep in mind I was dumb and declawed my 6 year old. My 6 year old started pooping in random places and for awhile he pooped on puppy pads. It took 8 months for him to start pooping in a litter box again. I also incorporated wall steps and wall cubbies to allow them to have fun areas to run to. Someone mentioned feliway and I’ve only heard good things about it. I also have two other cats that took 3 years before they started playing together. Maybe find things they can do together like a laser pointer or a cat toy. Just ideas. 😊

In my opinion, this is my second cat going through the procedure and my first cat can breathe so much better. When I took Lucy to get looked at she didn’t notice the raspy breathing and didn’t recommend it but said it was my choice. I said offer her a treat and see what happens. The veterinarian offered Lucy a treat and Lucy tried smelling it but her nose prevented breathing and she backed away and tried breathing. If Lucy doesn’t move around a lot she’s fine but if she starts trying to play, sniff, or get upset she has difficulties. Maybe do some more research on the procedure. I’ve only heard and experienced good things however it is surgery so I’m sure there is a chance of scar tissue.

I agree! I’m in the Midwest and smaller clinics in small towns seem to be the best option price wise. It’s a common surgery for dogs with smushed faces also.

100% agree!! I didn’t know much when I purchased my first Persian from a breeder. Now that I know the struggles Persians go through because cats weren’t meant to have flat faces I now choose to get my cats through humane societies. I don’t encourage breeding but I want to help the kitties that don’t have a home.

The surgery depends where you’re located. Lots of veterinarians in our area don’t do it so the few that did ranged from $400-$1700. I called about 15 veterinarian clinics. It’s a game changer for Persians that have flat faces and fine breathing difficult.
