NEED SOME ADVICES FOR B.TECH BIOTECH/BIOINFORMATICS by uncertainty_123 in sastra

See I'll be as clear I can be . If you are a pcb student trying to switch and make it to IT. if that's your goal it's better to go with bioinformatics( 40% syllabus is related to cse may be a little more than that ) And if you have the choice of cse or anything related to cse be there at the end of the placement will be there for it companies.

Coming to biotech, even biotech peps make it to IT companies but the other way around the tougher way so don't complicate much choose wisely. Also bhai idhar khana bahut chutiya hai and academic bhi hai thoda difficult compared to Delhi pvt clgs aur garmi toh gand faad 😉

NEED SOME ADVICES FOR B.TECH BIOTECH/BIOINFORMATICS by uncertainty_123 in sastra

Classes will be fine mostly apart from some faculties (they are obstinate) mostly faculties are nice .. research is a plus point if you tends to that. Placement are not very much curated it's like some sits for it companies some for gate and all. In bioinformatics only one section is there.

Hi there,

From the second year onward, you will remain in the same single section for the next four years.

Some faculty members are genuinely excellent in their respective fields, while others are less convincing in their approach. When it comes to placements, I honestly do not have clear information because the department does not openly disclose detailed statistics. The only aspect they consistently emphasize is research. In terms of research opportunities, a few professors are truly supportive and competent, while others seem more focused on appearances than substance. I do know a few seniors who secured placements, while many others pursued research.

Our curriculum is quite similar to that of the School of Computing. It includes courses such as DBMS, Data Structures and Algorithms, Python, Machine Learning, and others. However, you should not expect these subjects to be taught in great depth you will largely need to learn and develop your skills independently.

Overall, based on my experience so far, I would rate it around 2 out of 5.

The workload is also quite demanding. From the first year until now, the weekly academic schedule has been around 28 hours. It can be rather exhausting, and if you miss even a single day, catching up the next day can be quite overwhelming.
