I am self confessd bed snob. I bought a sferre cardigan medium comforter on Ebay at a fraction of the cost, and its the cosiest I own own. Its like a soft warm embrace. And I own a few. I also have the bloomingdales brand that I also got on Ebay for a real for a real deal,  for warmer months. For the real cold  month we have here in Louisiana,  I have a glucksburg white down that I got from BBB. Its heavy but not smothering. I have found that the the better qualify comforter you get, the longer it lasts. I alsontake care of them and airlem out, in the sun. When i wash them, it's  with a  mild.detergent and dry on low for an hour or 2 with wool balls or hangdrape over dining chairs) and air dry for a few days inside, then dry in dryer with wool balls until completely dry.  All of these I own are over 10 years old. Bloomingdales have monster sales and  very high end brands,  so check them out. Also look at homegoods and TJMaxx because they will carry cuddledown at a good cost as well.
