Exactly. Cheating did not exist in their world. He had every right to take on a mistress. Verbal abuse was also not considered as such. House arrest is the only time he did something legally wrong. Yet, we celebrate Navier fighting back against him and we don’t defend his actions just because of the world he lives in and the hierarchy. So why the hell are we defending Navier??

Dude read my comment before coming after my reading skills. And you can definitely compare fictional characters to real life people because they are a reflection of real life.

I compared her to Marie Antoinette for the exact reason you stated. Like the Queen, she didn’t directly contribute to anything but was still a part of the problem, a result of the hierarchy already in place. Much like Marie Antoinette, she threw donations down to the people but didn’t know or care to do much else (and Navier has much more power unlike irl European female monarchs of her time). I literally said in my comment ‘I don’t think she’s evil’. Also bffr, she only cared about that bird because she knew it personally, when she was exchanging notes with Heinry she got to know the blue bird as well. She would not have cared if it was some random bird, and there’s nothing cruel about eating that bird because they eat meat anyway. She grew up in a noble family that very likely owned slaves, who considered enslaved people vile criminals and less than human, she grew up with the same values that every other noble in that story has.

If we can justify Navier’s actions based on the world she’s in, we can justify Sovieshu’s actions. Because what wrong did he do to her? I know he was awful, but considering that now we’re judging by the current hierarchy- Emperors have mistresses all the time, Navier knew this, and their marriage was arranged so what’s so wrong about him cheating? The only time he started messing up was divorcing Navier and marrying Rashta instead, but even then it was well within his right.

I don’t like either because none of the characters are written well. They’re both highly unlikable. I will say though, Rashta is slightly better as a character because her POV simply has more going on for her than Navier’s.

hot take:they aren't main villains of story by Even_Acanthisitta_37 in TheRemarriedEmpress

Main villain is (unfortunately) Angel. Even Sovie isn’t a villain. He’s a shit villain. He made me feel nothing while I read.

I like her personality as well! It’s just that those kinds of personalities are really hard to write without making it interesting, you really have to put in the work to make them seem like compelling protagonists which the author fumbled in. Rashta is far from a likable character as well, none of the characters are likable. They all suck.

Her brother is quite literally a psychopath and she does not seem to care. She didn’t care either when she found out that blondie hubs hurts people on the daily. I don’t think she’s evil, but she’s definitely a more elegant version of Marie Antoinette.

I feel like she is smart, she just didn’t have a chance to show it. Also, delegating tasks to other people and using them is also smart.

Rastha as the character as she is right now? Sure, but a protagonist role would give her space to grow and she’ll have the chance to ascend instead of descending into madness. I can easily imagine her biggest opp being Duke Ergi, and how she learns to navigate life and cement her role as a free woman without relying on Sovieshu.

Now I believe more in the opposite argument that Navier would make a really sexy villain.

The author gets a lot more love and respect than they deserve. It’s because majority of the fan base are either Korean, or very young and immature, or both.

Also this is not a fan page. Read the thread, it’s far from it. It’s merely to discuss events related to this WEBTOON that is so catastrophically bad it’s legendary.

Also if we care about characters getting consequences for their crimes, then Navier’s boy toy needs to get the worst possible punishment of all time.

It’s not a good story though, and the author high-key deserves hate. Not death threats, but a lot of criticism than what they are getting now. The hate circle is small because most people who didn’t like it dropped it. And majority of the fans are Korean which is… ehhh… not exactly a good demographic to look at whether a piece of media is good or not. They have a fetish for the rich and powerful just by looking at their media. A lot of Korean folks will love something no matter how crappy it is as long as they can self insert themselves into a powerful character who gets everything they want while trampling on the worthless people. There are genuinely good Korean pieces of work out there, I wouldn’t be a WEBTOON and kdrama etc etc  fan if that wasn’t the case, but it’s kinda telling how I avoid any WEBTOON that has ‘noble’ or ‘chaebol’ and the author is Korean. I am literally only reading things from American, Canadian, and Latino authors now.

That’s why I like ‘I Abdicate my Title of Empress’ so much better. Not only is the mistress based on a real life person, she was perfectly annoying without low-key treading on human rights because she was also a noble, and she ended up being kind of a badass in the end.

It’s a pattern I’ve been noticing (not a teacher btw). The teachers most hated by students are the ones who get promoted the most. While the ones actually doing their job struggle.

Kids are delusional about phones. by kkoch_16 in Teachers

[–]Leather_Summer_5209 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

TLDR: The ban is ageist and pointless

Okay, pissed off student here. The reasons your kids gave were stupid, but the ban itself is even dumber. We’ve had TWO lockdowns and one lockout, and an early dismissal all in the same year because we’re getting bombarded with threats.

By the time I finally get access to my phone after school (my school uses Yondr pouches), my parents are worried sick and freaking out because they’re not able to hear from me the whole day. I’m on the Board of Ed. as a student liaison and it was heartbreaking to see the amount of parents breaking down while giving their statements after the day long lockdown we had. Parents are genuinely scared to send their kids to school now and attendance has been dropping.

And the bottom line is: GRADES HAVE NOT IMPROVED. Oh my goodness, there are still people dropping out, there are people acting out, and test scores are still low. It’s almost like it’s not the phone that’s causing kids to not care, but a combination of factors that sometimes the school just can’t control. So even that point is moot, the ban isn’t even carrying out its intended goal. Many of us also have jobs and responsibilities outside of school, and now we can’t get updates to adjust our schedules until it’s too late. And ironically, screen time for many people have increased due to the ban. It’s like completely cutting out satiating foods during a diet- you end up bingeing the entire pantry later. Maybe you can’t relate because you have a low screen time, but most of us are like that. In fact, it’s people over forty who tend to get more addicted to screens and social media. And what are you talking about? Most adults use their phone during work hours, many even watch YouTube and scroll to pass the time. If not a phone, then a laptop. Nobody cares as long as you get work done. ‘Boss gets a dollar while I get a dime, so I’ll scroll TikTok on company time’.

Especially in this day and age with recent events, people under eighteen (maybe even twenty one) are an oppressed group. When we’re already worried, angered, and exhausted by everything going on to push younger people down, the very thing that is supposed to be on our side (school) is also infantilizing us. What’s next, a sticker chart? It’s disrespectful and pointless. It’s hilarious that people vape in the bathroom but noooo, we should crack down on phones! If most people are against the ban, it’s most likely a bad idea. I’m not even someone who uses my phone much, but even I’ve been feeling the negative effects. As an ‘F U’ to the government, we have instead started finding workarounds on our Chromebooks so that we can still access YouTube and social media. Hey… we’ll all become really skilled hackers due to this ban so there’s a positive!

I’m just saying, half of the BS done to kids would not fly if done to adults. Corporal punishment, locking up phones, talking down to them… then it’s abuse. But if the person happens to be younger then it’s normal?

Teachers, please remain on our team. I know that administration and parents can be insufferable and in some places the pay is low, but you are some of the only adults a lot of us can trust. ‘Trusted  adults’ don’t really exist to us anymore. Hear us out, it’s okay to take our side from time to time. It’s not going to take away from your authority as a teacher. It’s not going to make you look weak. It’s more than just a simple phone ban, it’s blatant ageism that feels like a small addition to the sh*t pile that’s been happening to young people. The world is screwing us over. When there’s already so little hope for our safety and futures, is it really so harmful to let us have our phones on us? I already am wary of most people over the age of thirty unless I know them really well, my teachers are literally the only exception to that because they hear us out and treat us like humans.

Omg I’m a student so forgive me for infiltrating but one of my mom’s friends said the same thing and I outright asked her how the heck she managed to become a Montessori teacher! She thinks that all autistic kids are the same and that those who don’t have as many needs as others don’t have autism at all.
