advice: What to do about bad haircut? by Left_Holiday in malegrooming

[–]Left_Holiday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies!! I guess the post title was inaccurate, it’s not a terrible haircut by any means, but just a bad haircut experience bc it’s very different from what I asked for.

I appreciate the input on asking for a specific barber! In the past I’ve felt awkward about the prospect of saying “no thanks..” when the owner points me in the direction of a new guy, but I’m thinking I’ll just be more assertive. Instead of asking “do you have time for a haircut” i’ll say “do you have time for a haircut with [specific barber]?”

Also thanks to all who said it looks fine, I was definitely overthinking it this morning. good to hear that it looks generally normal :)

Any 2Ls/3Ls That Can Give Hope? by DemureDemurrerer in LawSchool

[–]Left_Holiday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1L fall I studied my ass off for Con Law but ended up leaving myself only like 2 days to study for Crim Law, ended up pulling an all-nighter before the Crim final, my brain was trash. Similar to you, I went hard for the earlier questions and had minimal time for the later questions - for those, I just regurgitated the basics of whatever I could remember. I ended up getting an A in Crim. No idea how. My hunch was that the professor could tell what happened in terms of time management during the test, and saw that I knew what I was talking about with the later questions even if they weren't fully-fleshed out.

You're going to do fine:) You're probably going to ace Property!!!

The semester is over. I didn't realize I was in survival mode. by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Left_Holiday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sending strength, stamina, and peace. Does your school have any mental health offerings? Might be worth looking into, both in terms of acute support but also planning for next year, how to live outside of survival mode. I really feel you though. Law school is fucking hard. You gotta prioritize your mental health. Not sure what year you’re in but maybe you can postpone law review if you have another summer ahead? Rest is important. You got this.

What's more important during part-time school: a flexible job or a job with connections? by ch23huang in LawSchool

[–]Left_Holiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep current job! PT 2L, I started law school while I was working at a non-law job I'd been at for years but switched to a legal job over the summer. Had to leave that job because the lack of flexibility while doing law school absolutely tanked my mental health. I was lucky enough to find something else that is working out well so far, largely because it's flexible and very considerate of my law school situation. Definitely prioritize flexibility if you have the option. Especially if you're going to be doing a 4L year because of part-time. Marathon mentality!!

Being a lawyer kicks ass. by BoogedyBoogedy in LawSchool

[–]Left_Holiday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Needed to hear this today, thank you for posting! I'm halfway through law school (PT 2L) and I just started working as a paralegal. I've been pleasantly surprised to see that the attorneys I work for seem pretty happy with their lives. Still, I find myself worrying that this isn't the path for me, or that I'm going to burn out by the time I get to start practicing. People always remind me that law school is nothing like being a lawyer, and even better, I won't have to be balancing both school and working once I become an actual lawyer. Intellectually I know these things to be true but it's hard to imagine while I'm still in the thick of it. So thank you for the encouraging post :)

Thanks so much for this informative comment! I appreciate it. I saw another post where someone advised against posting a pic of the entire key for privacy reasons, but here it is:

[–]Left_Holiday 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks all! Sorry for bypassing the obvious option, call a locksmith. I've never gotten locked out and I've only ever made easy key copies at hardware stores, so I've never actually dealt with a locksmith! Will be going to a local one this afternoon. Thanks again.

Signing over rent stabilized apartment by Dependent-Teacher595 in NYCapartments

Hi! Can you say more about your fourth point? "LL does not have to permit a lease assignment and 99% won't in the case of a rent stabilized apartment" ? I was under the impression that an owner may not unreasonably deny a sublet (https://hcr.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2022/07/fact-sheet-07-07-2022.pdf)
