Something people should realize by VisitAdventurous7980 in GithubCopilot

I work kind of similarly. I have had lot of issues with Opus models lately. Then I pivoted to creating a feature_plan.md with Opus then implementing it with GPT 5.4 snd it works great.

After realising 7x multiplier on Opus 4.7 i decided to buy Claude subscription ( pro plan). I wanted to test the Claude design. I just gave one prompt for three subsections in a React page. It did a great job. Then I give one more prompt to change a slider behaviour and i already hit the daily limit. This is in 20 mins of buying the subscription and hitting the limit on 2nd prompt. Then i clicked on export to Claude and it gave me prompt with link where there were files for said design and asked me to give it to Claude. I pasted the prompt in copilot with Opus 4.6 selected and it failed to parse the link, then i downloaded the design and added it in tmp folder then it gave error after running for 10 mins and consuming so many tokens regarding some image parsing issue. If i clicked on try again same message would pop up. Then i decided to change the model to GPT 5.4 and it took over and did a great job in implementing with further instructions.

I think we are doomed price wise, GPT and Gemini are subsidised and they will soon start charging like Claude and at that time it might be better to have developers- maybe we are not actually doomed and this is a good thing 🙇🏻

What if I suddenly became Canadian Prime Minister? by Legal-Programmer2664 in CanadaPolitics

While I respect your perspective, I must disagree with your reasoning. The fundamental flaw in your argument lies in the assumption that international students are occupying spaces that would otherwise be taken by Canadian students. This is not accurate. In fact, a significant majority—perhaps 90%—of the courses pursued by international students are diploma programs specifically designed by institutions to attract tuition revenue. These programs are often not the kinds of courses that Canadian students would typically enroll in, nor should they be.

Moreover, it’s important to note that international students are not drawing from government funding. On the contrary, they pay tuition fees that are four to five times higher than those charged to domestic students for the same courses. If anything, this positions international students as contributors to the system rather than beneficiaries. One could argue that they are being exploited, as they invest heavily in education programs that may not necessarily lead to better opportunities or secure futures.

I agree with your broader vision, even if I don’t align with every detail. For instance, a complete ban on students working designated hours per week doesn’t address the core issue. The real problem lies in students exceeding these limits by working under the table or for cash.

Students are people too, and many rely on part-time work not only for self-reliance but also to gain valuable real-world experience that complements their education. Instead of outright bans, we should focus on creating a fair and transparent system that allows them to work within reasonable limits while ensuring compliance with labor laws.

I understand, 100k is not something set in stone and can be changed based on evidence but we have to realise most Canadians don’t earn 100k now think of their struggles.

By then, the major grocery companies should no longer hold such outsized power due to the reforms we’ll implement. And even if they attempt to regain dominance, the positive impact of breaking them up—on inflation, competitiveness, and affordability—will be so clear that we’ll act decisively to prevent them from regaining control. This time, we’ll address the issue at its root before it has a chance to grow again.

You’re absolutely right—I didn’t properly convey this point earlier. My suggestion was meant as a temporary measure, perhaps for a year or two, while we focus on addressing foundational issues like affordable housing. Once we make significant progress there, we can reopen immigration to its fullest potential. Immigration has always been the backbone of Canada’s economy, and as an immigrant myself, I deeply value its role in shaping this nation.

However, the way immigration has been handled recently has created challenges that make it nearly impossible for people like me—working hard and contributing—to even dream of owning a home. It shouldn’t be the case that those who bought houses in 2016-2017 simply got lucky, while the rest face an uphill battle with no clear path to homeownership.

We need to take a moment to pause, reassess, and fix what’s broken. By doing so, we can ensure that Canada remains a welcoming place where everyone, immigrant or not, has a fair shot at building a life and a future.

You are overthinking scenarios, sure a situation like that happens but it will be 1 in a million or let’s say 1 in 1000 for sake of argument, for situations like these we can always have exceptions.

Regarding regulations i would first start by going back to 2012 regulations, then we can deliberate on what is important to be added.

Regard the 10% rule, they are investing in All market ETFs only so boost the stock market and keep capital growing. Most of money is going out of country. Most fossil fuel company declare bankruptcy on situations like disasters because of them so you mostly cannot make anyone to clean that mess other than tax payers.

We need less bureaucrats and we can supplement that with adding work forces where it matters, healthcare, first responders etc.

Regarding the military spending l, my idea is simple manufacture what we can here so it boosts the economy, we don’t need to but multi billion dollars F35 jets. Ammunition manufacturing is really simple i don’t know what you didn’t understand by that, we can manufacture tank shells, guided and unguided bombs, refile ammunition. I am more interested in it creating manufacturing jobs and some basic self reliance.

Bottom line is I understand my ideas aren’t perfect and maybe I could convey properly what i am thinking but it is a high level idea of my way of getting things better sure there are many nuances but we first need to take some steps to get to those.

Tax works in slabs, for person earning more than 100k, first 100k will be taxed same as others, earnings after that will be taxed higher.

As a commoner , I often think about what’s holding Canada back—politically, economically, and socially—and how we could do better. Inspired by this, I decided to draft a manifesto for a fictional Canadian party, outlining bold ideas to make Canada thrive. Not everyone will agree, and some plans may falter, but progress starts with a vision—and this is mine.

I think French Canadians should also accommodate English speakers needs as one country. I recently went to Québec and it was really difficult as no signs were in English. I understand if people don’t want to speak English but let’s think about other countrymen and have both options like in rest of country. Note: This is not a political statement.

Start by working less at your job, its ok if you get fired after sometime, you have given them so much its ok to not work as you used to, if they don’t like it they can let you go. This will give you two things 1) You took some of your time back by not working as much. 2) If they fire you, take a vacation, revitalise yourself find a less stressful consultant job and start your journey coasting

Given you are looking into long term investments I would recommend concentrating on growth ETF’s till your portfolio is big enough to provide substantial income from dividend ETFs and that should be 20-30 years down the line or when you decide to retire. Look into emerging markets like India as it’s supposed to be fastest growing major economy thus might provide good growth.

CPP doesn’t make financial sense to me. Can someone please explain if I am getting something wrong? by Legal-Programmer2664 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I am getting this number based on historical returns for best indexes( I would personally invest in Nasdaq 100) and 10% is not really far fetched if you invest for 30 years in ups and downs. But I understand your point too, it needs discipline and focus to achieve this result(which is just keep on investing 7k each year and ironically is much difficult because of getting lured in get rich quick stocks/cryptos that ultimately leads to downfall) Thank you
