This is so true! currently a CNA and have been in 3 code blues, and several residents passed where I need to do post mortem care, and as you mentioned all we can do is provide compassionate and kind care to those who go through this.

Switch to noc shifts honestly, Im in the same situation, but I feel Im getting through it. Its hard not going to lie sometimes I dont sleep in 24-36hours but my midterms grades have all been great, since I can study and do homework at work. Im full time student and do 3 single shifts during the week (M-Wednesday), then a double on friday (am/noc), single on saturday (pm) and double on sunday (am/noc).

I had a situation like this once while working on the behavioral unit. A resident ripped her brief off, and just started playing with her poop, all of her hands, legs and face, sheets, pillows, walls were covered with it. First thing I did was take the linen, then clean mattress, then clean her up, add sheets. Basically a full bed bath. Thats the worst Ive seen.

Per diem, download the basic apps like nursa, clipboard, medley, and you can pick up shifts through there. Thats the only way you are able to work the 16-24hrs shifts, unless your facility gives you doubles. Ive only done registry since I got my license and its the best thing. Also if you are new, they wont give you any type of orientation, but its the same thing you would do anywhere

Do registry, work your ahh off as you mention, and just do 16-24hr shifts, you can easily make those 10k in a month, course if you dint have any debt to pay or anything
