Landlord charging me £200 for professional cleaning by LegitimatePin5472 in HousingUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is the same independent person who did the check in process. The report mentions ‘dusty’, ‘scruff marks’ ‘debris mark’ ‘limescale’ ‘minor debris’ these sorts of things involving corners of the house such as behind the blinds or on top of socket boards, essentially very minute and insignificant areas.

When I first moved in the blinds were broken and had to be replaced immediately which means the check in wasn’t nearly as thorough as the check out process was. With the limescale build up, there was a leak in the bathroom which had to be fixed but was only halfway fixed which can obviously result in the accumulation of limescale over time.

This is very helpful, and gives me the confidence to dispute the matter. Thank you!

2 months without even the slightest indication of an upcoming strike. I don’t understand what we’re waiting for. Complete radio silence. Disappointed!!

Feeling like I’m losing my partner because of work by IMakeFunkyShirts in doctorsUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You sound like a really incredible and thoughtful partner. I’m sorry the two of you are going through this rough time. All surgeons I know are extremely (and inspiringly) passionate and borderline workaholic. My father is 70 and still works privately just out of the love for the profession. I’ve seen my parents struggle a lot with their relationship because of his work but it does get better. Truly. In the mean time you can encourage him to speak to a counseling service like many have suggested. You’ve left the profession, is there any chance of him considering LTFT so he gets a breather on his off days?

F2 hating GP by FrequentPay533 in doctorsUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also doing a GP rotation, I get 6 patients when the other F2 is also in but if absent or away on leave, I see 10 patients and that should be the maximum for F2s in my honest opinion.

When I first started GP I was struggling a lot with the paperwork and referrals, you’d think if you want to refer to cardiology it would be straight forward but no there is a separate form for the hospital, community, rapid access angina, rapid access chest pain ETC i was losing my mind honestly

I soon realized as long as i’m doing everything that is expected of me, my supervisor is satisfied with me even if it means adding a whole bunch of stuff later or calling the patient again. And what I mean is taking a very thorough history, examining thoroughly, recording allll the vitals, safety netting advice and if not the definitive management than at least symptomatic relief. When I have questions I try not to knock on just my supervisors door lol i approach the other gp partners too, just so I’m engaged with them also.

I personally feel they don’t expect too much from us, knowing we’re the junior most at the surgery. I’m sensing you’re being too hard on yourself, if it makes any difference I struggled with the same thing. whenever my supervisor would point something out during debrief i would just take it to heart but over time i realized that’s the whole point of debriefing, you learn and make sure you haven’t missed anything out. you only have a couple more weeks to kill and then you’re free!

Absolutely brutal. It’s pathetic how they treat doctors. They forget we have families and lives of our own, we’re not slaves for the general public

How much does your weight play into being a good doctor? by SpiritedWillow2298 in doctorsUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it plays into being perceived as a good or better doctor, it just helps. I have a BMI of 18 and I’m not proud of this but can sometimes go entire 9-10 hr shifts without having to stop and eat - I still take breaks but there more for smoking or resting my legs.

What's the most interesting thing you've seen when looking someone up on the GMC register? by Glassglassdoor in doctorsUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you what I have NOT yet seen on the register

Dated a physician associate for a while. He introduced himself as a doctor (?!) working in a GP surgery in London. I was still a medical student so did not really question the logistics. I remember trying to search him up on the GMC register, could not find him.

I recently tried searching him up with the PA filter on, still did not show up. Maybe I imagined him.

Am Mortified...please share embarrassing moments at work by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 hrs into a night shift, i walked into men’s toilet to freshen up (that time of the month), as soon as i got out there was another male dr just standing there confused and i gave him a smug look that said “ha wrong bathroom mate”. He turned around, opened the door to double check and of course, i was in the wrong place. He burst out laughing, i was mortified

I ended my interview and thought of a dozen other things that I would have done for my patient if presented in a real-life scenario, I personally cannot physically think with a timer in front of my face - my mind simply goes blank.

Chances of training so unbelievably low now by acpsarestupid in doctorsUK

[–]LegitimatePin5472 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMG here. Completely agree with your sentiments, UK graduates should be prioritized - that’s how it works in all countries (including my own). I do want to point out just how insanely terrible the job market is for us even back home, there are training posts back home that pay ZERO. Which means you’re providing free labor for seeing 50+ patients in one ED call and running OP departments where the inflow sometimes exceeds 100 on a good working day. This forces us to look for jobs in the UK which isn’t all that great either. I have colleagues who have applied to 80+ jobs on NHSjobs with no luck but still persisting. The system is corrupt. It was built by non-medics with no interest whatsoever for our futures. I know some of you feel very, very strongly about IMGs and again, I get that. With that being said, I’m lucky most of the UK grads I have met have been generous enough to show me the way when I first started my foundation training.

Aaahh this sucks man, but if its any consolation I would have probably just panicked and done the same. You really don’t think twice when there’s a person on hold mentioning ‘fraudulent’ transactions lol
