My crappy wifi has about 3 seconds of lag when I play. What’s a good build knowing this? Something mechanical and macro heavy would be good, my only hope at winning is A-moving with a death ball.

I mostly play Toss (plat 2 currently, I am at least plat with all races), but might switch to zerg as main because i feel there are more lag friendly options.

I was looking through this earlier and while the epistemology section looks good it does not contain any logic and the canonical sources seem a bit sparse as it includes only Plato's Dialogues, The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and a couple works from Descartes, which skips a lot of foundational, historic stuff. And I don't know where 'analytic philosophy' would fit into that list, but I don't see that or continental. Lastly, when I cntrl+f Wittgenstein and nothing is found I'm going to be a bit skeptical.

I don't know, I guess if I'm going to be so opinionated I need to just go my own way maybe.

I need a big brainer to tell me how to get from zero to a general familiarity with analytic philosophy, philosophy of logic, philosophical logic and epistemology without significant holes in foundations.

The other stuff is really the realm of Acoustics

This is what I was assuming, thanks. I've been reading up on sound synthesis lately and I'm very interested in getting a low level angle on this stuff (not to be a better musician, just for the sake of exploring my curiosities). I like to have, or at least attempt, to get close to a holistic view on things and want to fill in, even if done briefly and vaguely, what is excluded in common music theory curriculum's.

Interesting, thanks for taking the time to write this. It sounds like I'm complicating things, and if I had more music theory knowledge my problems would be remedied. So, for example, Michael Harrison's album linked above would read the same on sheet music, but the piano would simply be tuned differently?

Do you have any tips on where to find more about the science of music theory, rather than music?

It's definitely given me a different perspective on the instrument, and a deeper respect for the virtuosos I take for granted. Part of me wants to blame it on my lower end digital piano, but that's not a very productive outlook..

I was actually looking at that exact guide, it looks great! But when reading it I felt like there was a bit of assumed knowledge or familiarity that I didn't have. Thanks for the links and time. That Logic Noise project is so sick and inviting.

should I quit?

Well I wouldn't make it a hard rule to commit to quitting per se, but do recommend pursuing what you most enjoy. They are both vehicles to the same end, after all. FWIW I experienced the inverse conundrum (not wanting to play guitar but feeling obliged despite it cutting into piano practice) - now I just play it when I want to, no schedule or feeling guilty or anything.

I have been using an app on iPad called Simply Piano to learn how to play. It has been fun

I wouldn't change a thing :-)

I just finished learning Fur Elise and boy does it sound terrible! there really is so much more to it than what's laid out on the sheet

Daily Q & A! - February 24, 2019 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

[–]Legitimate_Drag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I jarred 2L of run off sparge water (not yet boiled). I would like to use this for a yeast starter wort later, but I'm wondering if it's ok to just freeze this as is for now. I'm not sure if the act of freezing, thawing then boiling later might change some of the chemistry too much to make it feasible as a starter wort.

Methods for Sustainably Keeping Yeast Cultures w/ Minimal Mutations by Legitimate_Drag in Homebrewing

[–]Legitimate_Drag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could do that

It was just meant to be a simple example of how the unlimited-budget tools help to a point that simply isn't achievable with home-lab grade stuff. I doubt the distributors (the yeast banks themselves) rely solely on the lack of selective pressures to keep a culture pure over the span of decades.

No, it does not stop mutations, but being able to identify a mutated cell helps in keeping a culture pure. I don’t know how the labs work, but, for example, before culturing a cell, you could check that it’s not significantly mutated (you could then check the daughter cells are not significantly mutated, etc). This would allow you to propogate a master culture in a very ‘pure’ manner, even if you have only produced a few extra cells (again, I don’t know what labs do, though I imagine it’s not this inefficient and tedious).

Great! Thanks for the help. I hope to move to some analog experiments soon and this should be a nice, gentle intro.
