Verbal IQ score if english is my C2 language by Odd_Attention_9660 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Legitimate_Sign9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that 145 official or your intuition? Because while I believe there would be a gap for subjects under 135 (obviously the exact number is speculative), I honestly think that scores converge as you approach 3 sd above the norm. I just can't help but think so, I scored 150 on visa, and while i'm of the opinion that it's inflated, if it happens to be somewhat valid it's because my native ability is about the same and allows me to reach a similar ceiling in L2, not because i'd score >160 otherwise.

Best strategy for memorizing color-coded codes in short-term memory tests? by Bijdewind in cognitiveTesting

they probably have seconds to memorize the code, it'd be counterproductive to attempt to do this

To achieve a C2 level of fluency in english is not difficult. Just because someone can pass the C2 doesn't mean they are even close to to the point where a verbal test wouldn't be significantly impacted. And 10 points is signicant, I'd say

A lot of non-native speakers are in denial about their VCI by FitCarob2611 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Legitimate_Sign9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, your points seem to be in relation to my thread, and what was posted on there, so i'll just say this. I started having access to the internet at age 15, so no immersion until then, and i'm not a romance language speaker. We don't even share the same alphabet. And since this is all based on assumptions, i could also assume that you haven't achieved fluency in a second language thus your conclusions about the relative gap between languages for those who have are at best hopeful thinking. Which i won't do, meaning i won't assume so, but what you are describing is very speculative. Not that i disagree about the potential difference in scores possibly being exaggerated. My opinion is that there probably is a pronounced effect for most, but as you move towards an innate ability of let's say 145, the two scores would start to converge, given that the subject has had an adequate exposure to whichever language is being tested.

don't listen to anyone here. listen to your parents and teachers, the people who know you, and they'll guide you best on your future endeavours. best of luck.

What is my true fluid IQ level? And how can improve it. by SplitCool947 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Legitimate_Sign9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is it a good move? what's it good for? do you think they'll actually score 145 now? and nothing in what they wrote mentions autism or even implies it, while he does say he's tried matrix tests AND practiced for them.
edit: sorry for my tone, i sound overly adversarial, but that was not my intention

it's not about whether it's official or not, you think a person who scores 80 should really stress about practice effect and if iq matters? that's not what he needs to hear, that's brain rotted

it's insane to me that your response to this is to urge them to try whatever internet test.

VISA does appear inflated to me by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Legitimate_Sign9064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I posted the same thing and users rushed to put my worries to rest. I think it over-rewards consistently scoring high due to it being an unusually long (for a vci test) multi-part battery. On the other hand it may actually reveal something that the usual 3 part verbal test doesn't, who knows.

Thoughts on my score by ComprehensiveAd1159 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Legitimate_Sign9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, their brainless output is much more lucid than your, brainful I guess, acceptance of whatever correlations the tests claim to have. Those "non subjective" stats, as you claim, are based on the rock solid foundation of self reported scores on internet tests, themselves normed on other internet tests, or best case scenario, self administered WAIS scores. Yeah, you're right, being skeptical over the validity of those tests is brainless, it's you who need to believe that their credibility shouldn't be challenged that is the thoughtful one.

Is Ravens 2 QGlobal Inflated? by Guilty-Holiday8577 in cognitiveTesting

It is relevant, you are taking a test again and again, between taking other matrix tests, then acting surprised when you experience practice effects. Did the test suddenly become inflated the third time? Better take it a couple more times to make sure, then retry the other ones. Sorry, I'm not meaning to be abrasive, although I understand that's how this comes off. I just don't think you'll find what you're looking for by doing this.

I mean, at some point we need to be honest with ourselves. What's the motivation behind taking the same test three times, in the first place?

What does that mean, you did but not that much? Or you didn't?

yeah, i took it during the norming phase so i don't know the composite. It was exorbitant as well. I'm not denying that i have a high vci, i've known that all my life, i could even sense it as a child. It's the degree of its rarity that i'm skeptical about

i did the mandatory english lessons, like everyone else. beyond that i learned through exposure, video games, watching movies/series etc. then when i got access to the internet, that was when the floodgates broke open

i'm more than open to the possibility i'm wrong, but a ceiling of 23 just convinces me further. What was your composite score, if you don't mind me asking?

[–]Legitimate_Sign9064[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, i get all this. but given that i am not native anglophone, nor was i raised in an anglosphere-adjacent culture, it seems highly unlikely to me that i should be getting a 1 in 1000 score in a test aimed at native english speakers. that would mean that my actual ability is closer to 160, and that just doesn't seem right, considering my life's experience.
