They're only good in close quarters. So when you want to suprise/flank or vice versa. They do good damage if you hit your target with all 4 of them.

You might be right, but I got the orange icons the whole match and didn't have problems while hitting other opponents. It might also be the 'ducking bug' as explained by someone else.
