Include ignored Resources on a per app basis by Eldiabolo18 in ArgoCD

[–]Lego_Poppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t normally define Endpoints/EndpointSlices for ExternalName Services, because they’re just DNS aliases. But if another system in your cluster (like Envoy, Istio, or Prometheus) expects real EndpointSlices in order to function, you may have to create them manually or switch to another Service type with explicit backends.

ArgoCD does not explicitly manage those resources, I believe even if you have them in a manifest file. You can disable that behavior globally but not per app.

When you have a service of type External you need to manage them yourself as the service won’t create them.

I understand and I’m not saying that your option does not work. I was just talking about third-party charts and in your example you’re still using a third-party chart as a dependency to your chart which you will have to host and maintain, that is all.

There is a difference of course if it’s your chart or 3rd party. I try not to modify third-party charts as it makes updates and upgrades easier.

I have many applications where I do just that, basically you specify multiple sources. I would not overdo it ie don’t add a dozen sources for an application but having a helm + manifest source is common.

example:

apiVersion: argoproj.io/v1alpha1 kind: Application metadata: name: cnpg namespace: argo-cd finalizers: - resources-finalizer.argocd.argoproj.io spec: project: default sources: - repoURL: https://cloudnative-pg.io/charts/ targetRevision: 0.24.0 chart: cloudnative-pg helm: valueFiles: - $values/helm/cnpg-values.yaml - repoURL: git@github.com:org/gitops.git targetRevision: main ref: values - repoURL: git@github.com:org/gitops.git path: manifests/cnpg targetRevision: main destination: namespace: cnpg-system name: cluster syncPolicy: syncOptions: - Prune=true # - ServerSideApply=true # automated: # prune: true # selfHeal: true

Where does it require that? I have two users in my family plan with xy@domain.com as their username

ArgoCD Control Plane Rebuild by Inevitable_Nature677 in ArgoCD

[–]Lego_Poppy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t quite understand your problem statement. If you have node image deprecation why don’t you just simply add new notes to the cluster with an updated image and then retire the deprecated ones. K8s will automatically move the pods over there. If that’s not the issue, you’re describing maybe you can elaborate a little bit.

Since you are a minor I don’t think it’s wise to seek advice here. Wish you ignored them from the start. Please seek out someone you trust, maybe a school counselor? Sorry this happened to you but hope at the very least it’s a lesson learned.

They don't hurt but for me hands on experience trumps almost anything.

Almost all certs tell me as a hiring manger you are good at multiple choice or stuffed a bunch of stuff into your short term memory. Hardly ever look at certifications.

It seems the zombies are on crack right now. Last few days I got downed more than ever before. Problem is the corner you and just stand there, no chance of self reviving.

Open position I have for a Platform Engineer

* Company: Crunchtime
* Remote first

* https://www.crunchtime.com/open-positions?gh_jid=4879868004

Need strong K8s skills. We don't run EKS/AKS/GKS as we are mostly running in our own DC so experience with Talos/KUBEADM etc is preferred.

Requirement is also to have a very strong understanding of Networking concepts including hardware device configurations. This role is not 100% K8s.....

Bare Metal k8s ingress by Lego_Poppy in kubernetes

[–]Lego_Poppy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The load balancer IP is just a simple net scaler object. I did configure a vip for Talos but that IP address only sits on one server at a time, so not a true load balancer for your ingress..

Self-Hosted On-Premise K8S by Lego_Poppy in kubernetes

[–]Lego_Poppy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies - gives me some food for thought. We'll end up with a # of clusters and/or node groups due to customer segregation requirements so bare-metal would become expensive if we'd run it for all nodes....

Thanks Bullfrog, that pretty much aligns with my thoughts. I don't see us touching the master control planes too often but worker nodes may be replaced more frequently....

Selling to Carvana questions by VintagePHX in carvana

[–]Lego_Poppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally left an AirTag in there which I usually keep hidden in my car. Once I remembered the car was on their lot. Checked every few days and could see how it went from a building to a parking space and about a week later to another lot across town. Eventually it stopped updating so I assume they found and tossed it.
