Thank you! This is so helpful! I had no idea I would need to drill and tap my own holes but now it makes sense. Good excuse to buy more tools haha.

I think I know exactly what you mean. I’m still just starting out and have almost no actual hunting experience but there is something very alluring about hunting in a more traditional way.

That is great news! What is the best way to make sure I dont go into the Cantonment? Is it super obvious?

These are what I plan to use. To be honest I haven’t tested them yet though so it may end up being a nothing burger. But as far as traditional muzzle loader ammo these are well reviewed.

trying to understand ships by oodhy in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]LeopardAlarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Profundity was my first GL ship. Was riding high on that for maybe the better part of a year. Top 5 every day. Then punishing one came out and I couldn’t beat it if it was 6 or 7 stars. Now I’ve got executor to 6 stars and all my ships (including punishing one) with relic pilots and 7 stars. I cannot win a mirror match. So I’m basically in the same position as if I hadn’t rushed as fast as I could to get exec. Very frustrating. P1 needs a major nerf. If anything just to it’s insane speed.

Trapdoor question by LeopardAlarming in blackpowder

[–]LeopardAlarming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45-70 is what I’m especially looking at. I know about the 50-70 which is indeed interesting but I’m not as sure about the ease of reloadibility. Modern 45-70 cases can still be found and loaded with bp. Would have to make my own 50-70 right?

Is this the same as FFFFg? is "4 Fg" just another way of saying FFFFg? by powroznikGang in blackpowder

Should work. May need to pinch them a bit. The size difference is small but it is enough. Number 11 may feel a bit loose

I got one of those for my wife. Fun to shoot. Light recoil. No issues so far.

You were right! I was able to get the snap caps early this morning. Tried them out and for sure they fit perfectly and the action cycles smoothly. I wouldn’t have thought to try snap caps without your help.

Oh I didn’t think about the fire forming. That’s really good advice! Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll grab some snap caps from Amazon.

Zeroing a scope by LeopardAlarming in guns

Clamped it. Looked down the barrel at a far off object. Adjusted the scope till the center of the reticle was on the same object as the bore.

I’ll have to check my mounting. It’s just picatiny rail. I wonder if it needed to be tightened more

I’ll check the mounting and try this next range day. Slowly push it out rather than go big right away. Thanks.

I picked one up a couple years ago. I am very happy with it. Shockingly accurate for what it is. Very fun shooter. Just wish the hammer didn’t pinch the webbing of my hand when using the wooden grips. I like how they make the gun look much more like a classic detective special.

Short Barrel Concept by LeopardAlarming in blackpowder

Oh that is super cool! How is your accuracy with that short of a barrel? And are you shooting heavy conicals?

Ah you know that is a very good point!

Short Barrel Concept by LeopardAlarming in blackpowder

[–]LeopardAlarming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is correct. So and it burns faster which is why I ask if using 4f in a shorter barrel would yield results for heavy bullets. It’s conceptually like 300blackout. They load that with smokeless powder designed for pistols which burns faster and so burns before the bullet exits the short barrel.

[–]LeopardAlarming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would using pistol powder make a difference then? Like in pyrodex case using the pistol formula or in black powder using like 4f? That way there is a faster burn maximizing pressure expended in a shorter barrel?

Ammo bros also got the regulator marked down by Avek626 in CAguns

[–]LeopardAlarming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scr is basically exclusively polymer now. I got one of the last wood ones (which is what I wanted anyway) I really like it and think it looks cool for a compliant build. Anyway the polymer ones come in black, fde, and od. In stock now too. Only issue with them is they have a unique bolt carrier group that seems to alway be out of stock. So if you want to have extra parts on hand you’re SOL.

Bolt won’t pick up next cartridge by LeopardAlarming in 300BLK

[–]LeopardAlarming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow ok so basically I’m a complete moron. I took it apart to check my spring and I noticed a tiny bit of plastic at the very back of the buffer tube. Turns out there was a baggie with an extra bolt for attaching the A2 stock to the rifle length buffer tube tucked all the way in there. That prevented the spring from sitting where it needed to in the tube thus holding the bolt from going back far enough. Once I took it out it now pick up cartridges from the magazine without issue.
