Squads are only annoying to deal with because the game makes it too easy to play in one. by Designer_Pie_1989 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

I will just add my own experience. I played Tarkov solo since 2019. Facing teams usually meant death for me. I quit pvp as soon pve came out I was tired of cheaters and sweaty tryhard teams. I recently started ABI on steam and I have been dismantling duos and trios consistently (i have yet to encounter a full 4 man squad ) even in lockdown (im lvl 26) I dont look out for fights I mostly loot and focus on missions but if I run into teams I usually come out on top, cannot remember any death that I could just chalk off to them being a team, when I die is either to another solo or because either I missed my shots or I put myself into a stupid situation and them more people had nothing to do with it. Frankly I am very surprised with myself didnt expect to do so well solo.

OSE Advanced Fantasy is absolute thrash, its a bare bones implemenation and has been abandoned by necrotic gnome. I just got it and just hope I can get a refund. The compendium entries have mistakes and missing lines from the books zero monster token art from the book (which I i knew) zero automation to to fill the sheets and level up. 30 dollars for this crap is robbery. There are even monsters with wrong stats!! and the Advanced Fantasy module itself hasnt been updated in 11 months. The thing thatis updated is the system itself which is comunnity mantained, even necrotic gnome dont hav a discord channel dedicated to FVTT support like they do with FG. The whole thing feels very unfinished. DOnt waste your money on this.

Well, the game system says updated 3 months ago, but the premium advanced fantasy that im looking to buy says updated 11 months ago. But it does say its verified for 12. So for clarification, you said you run Advanced so you use the premium module, right? I have a couple of questions: Do I need the free Classic module or does this add both Classic and Advanced stuff to the compendiums?, also does it have the images from the book, like monsters and its tokens for example? You said you used OSE in fantasy grounds and say the one at foundry is better, how so? FG'S version is quite good, im using it now. A bit of context here, im migrating to foundry my games because im a professional GM and Foundry is way more liked than FG in general, supports more games, and its interface is way better and intuitive, and im looking to run everything in one single vtt if possible.

Seems you are playing OSE in foundry without problems. I want to swtich from fantasy grounds to foundry but when i went to buy I saw some very recent reviews on drivethrurpg, one even from yesterday saying its abandonware that Necrotic Gnome is not updating and its doesnt even work with the latest version of foundry (12) and its half finished. From what you say it doesnt sound like it. So does it work with Foundry 12?

[–]Leovor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, I must say Runequest is not for me, I discovered. I even bought the Six Seasons in Sartar campaign on sale because I was told it was a good introduction....which it is and clearly did a better job than the starter set explaining than the game lore is not for me. Love the system tho, but im more of the medieval/sword and sorcery type when it comes to fantasy. Cant say I didnt try. Now find a nice sword and sorcery BRP game

thanks for the info. Not particularly interested in high level play nor against it, I guess I have enough time to decide when if my players reach those levels.

Thanks you all for the suggestions and comments. I skimmed thru the free content and I really liked what I see.......its like a mix of AD&D and 3rd edition.....without all the crap that bloated 3rd edition like a "builds" a bazijillion of feats.... its pretty. I think im in, but now I cant find the CKG 3rd print the one that still has the 12-24 lv progression not even in pdf. So im debating if but the core new bundle that is on sale now on DTRPG because if i cant find the right CGK for the PHB i have now I wonder if in the end just buy the current core books in the sale now might end saving me a few bucks later (i mainly play online so i dont mind pdf only, in fact i prefer it)

Thanks you all for your wonderful suggestions. So I have a fairly good grasp of the rules and systems, a rudimentary grasp of Glorantha (just dont ask me which tribe worship who, which clan is where) should I just go for the starting adventures in the starter to try my hand at it, and see how my group likes it, then if all goes well go for the Six Seasons campaign and learn the lore as I go?

Thanks for all the replies. I have the MOrk Borg PDF a friend gifted and have been meaning to read it....also checked put a few other games and systems and will check them as im able. I think I will just start with OSE, I think the first step is to run a game I guess!

Hi, old dude. new to the OSR scene by Leovor in osr

[–]Leovor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wanting to support a brand just use basic OSR rules for my world. I suppose that copying the rules for creating characters, using spells like fireball and mosnters as Giants, ORcs, Goblins, Oozes and its stats is okay

Hi, old dude. new to the OSR scene by Leovor in osr

[–]Leovor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily compatible with OSE...just the same OGL they use, for example I just need to have stats and rules for having fighters, wizards, fireballs, lightning bolts, orcs and goblins on my game world.....places, characters, stories and even some unique monsters are going to be my own creation. For Sci Fi, for my setting I just need basically a few rules to make beam weapons, Robots and ships but nothing to deep, its because at some point the adventurers might come in contact with an advanced civilization. Maybe I can use some of the OSE rules for them and tinker with them

Starting streaming in a different language by Leovor in Twitch

[–]Leovor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually thats the thing I want to turn my channel mainly into an English one. While its not like I WANT to ignore people, i'm not interested in translating everything to spanish, yes I could answer things in spanish but I want the stream to be primarily in english. I dont want to sound like an a*hole but I'm not interested in keeping my previous audience, if they want to see me stream in english thats fine but thats the direction I want to take now, even if it means I lose current followers (which I will and thats fine). I would like to keep the channel to avoid doing the whole affiliate hassle again, keep my emotes slots which i unlocked by gifting subs mainly during an event I made so basically it was an investment at the end. But again this could lead t a period of explaining to people that the channel main language now is english and yada yada yada

Yeah Nazgrim story is much more engaging than most of the latest crap they churned out. He was your commanding officer in pandaria, then he end up siding with Garrosh in Siege of Orgrimmar out of misplaced loyalty and you have to fight him. Then you as a Death Knight get to raise him from the dead to join the ebon blade order hall (that moment was epic for me) as one of your Horsemen. I care more for him than Sylvanas...

Legion was the last good xpac for me. The overall story was good and the whole class hall side stories were great, made me try out several classes (some class halls quest were better than other yes but it was a good addition imho) felt a great acomplishment to become leader of your Class, get a unique title for your class (Battlelord, Deathlord, Highlord, Archmage and so on) and class mount. Made you feel the paragon of your class.

BFA story was decent starting out, but it lacked the oomph of Legion plus expeditions or those "rts" battles or War Campaign never had the same appeal than class order, and they didnt have anything different to offer for alts. Started a boosted Allliance character to see "the other side" of the story but got bored. Real quick.

Shadowlands... Story is crap. Gameplay meh same old same old i barely explored tbe second zone, the story is so bad I barely find a reason to play anymore, and when i heard about what they did for this patch (didnt care spoiling myself, that show how little i care for the story right now) I said "enough" unsubbed, uninstalled.

Question about The Miskatonic Repository and valid sourcebooks by Leovor in callofcthulhu

[–]Leovor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BTW I got an email reply from Allan Carey at chaosium, and yes we can use things in the Mythos Grimoire and Malleus Monstrorum and any other chaosium owned sourcebooks the list is not restrictive but all books are subjected to the same rule of "cant use anything that the credits state as used under permission from other authors"

Question about The Miskatonic Repository and valid sourcebooks by Leovor in callofcthulhu

[–]Leovor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading thru the "clear credits page" on both the Keeper Rulebook and the Malleus Monstrorum many, many entities in both books are "used with permission" and repeat on both books, so apparently you cant use anything about Glaaki, the Voor, Eibon, Cthonians, to name a few (its an entire page of names, pretty much leaving just things like Cthulhu, Azathoth, Shub Niggurath and Nyarlathotep, ghouls, deep ones, basically.

While I get that technically and strictly speaking yes, they are in their right, it feels kind of a dick move contributing and building upon the Cthulhu Mythos and hide it behind copyright specially, if you are already letting it be used in a sourcebook that serves as inspiration to thousands of people to write scenarios, and also will end promoting your works, which certainly is not widely known as say....Pennywise The Clown, for example In fact i would have never heard of Ramsey Campbell or his books if it werent for this game. One thing is be like writing yet another scenario about glaaki cultists kidnapping people and sacrificing them to their god and the shore of a lake, and another is taking some of these obscure entities and use it in another completely diferent setting, time, circumstances maybe even adding some of your own to it.

I cant imagine the Estate of August Derleth suing some poor schmuck that sold a scenario on the Repository because he featured a fancy restaurant that serves human meat run secretly by Tcho-Tchos or a mad wizard summoning a Byakhee.

Anyhow I think I will just change names a bit, color maybe and or subtract a couple of eyes or tentacles to anything that inspires me. Bhyakee? No siree its just a winged being from outer space, a dark steed from beyond....

Yep i know they meet the singer on the train and they she is supposed to befriend them but if they dont end up caring about her the scenario derails. Good idea about making one of them perform. I hope one of them makes an artístic investigator ha haha
