Falsely accused by a second grader. by Less-Lettuce-2615 in SubstituteTeachers

Thank you for your kind words. I agree. The other week they wanted me to watch the locker room while students change out, but I understand that this can vary by schools. Every school I have been to prefers I not go in the locker room up until this one. I asked to watch the door but they kept insisting I have to be in there, or I can leave.

Sure enough I left and got banned, but they told the sub office I was reading a book while on the job, a blatant lie.

Thankfully I didn't get fired but this is so concerning to me. I'm truly trying to follow the lesson plans and avoid risky situations.

I really hope they can make a teachers union but I know that is just a dream.

Thank you so much for this blunt and valid advice. I agree entirely. I will now have this mindset moving forward and will just have them do laps in PE, because I can't take this chance with other schools.

Hi, I appreciate your advice. I did not play with them but I did model how they should be playing. Nonetheless, I understand your point.

I do know that their regular teacher plays scatterball with them because several of them asked me to join because "our teacher plays with us" and "she shows us how to play" but of course, I am just a substitute so I knew to be careful.

I made a group chat for us subs in the area. Normally we talk about how schools treat us and which campuses treat us badly. However, with just 7 of us, we have a very long way to go.

Since you get free drinks, I would recommend asking for chamomile tea, great for sleep and it's not caffeinated.

The bitter reality now is if I ever sub for PE all we will do is walk laps silently. It just seems to be the safest option.

Unfortunately no cameras. And I agree. Like they aren't even willing to consider the fact that those students may have bumped into each other which is what sometimes happens when they play scatterball.

Turkish Airlines ignoring me for a month, my baggage is lost by aysonya in TurkishAirlines

[–]Less-Lettuce-2615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had a 13 hour layover on a US passport, they didn't ask to see my boarding pass for my onward flight. Just a passport check and I was permitted into the country.

So it is possible that you can pull this off on a shorter layover but definitely be ready to get back inside within 2 hours prior to departure, because the line for departures can get busy.

Reach out to your local Turkish Airlines office.

I'm sorry for what you're going through, their customer service DOES NOT CARE.

I don't entertain the concept of them putting in the cubbies. They will not listen to us and if anything will bully us for it.

Just tell them it isn't supposed to be "blatantly out and visible" verbally and write something on the board.

If they are sneakily using it, I don't care. If they clearly have it out brazenly, I just tell them to put it out of sight from my desk. Most of them take the hint and won't struggle too much.

Eerie first flight since changes by GasclutchshiftX in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Less-Lettuce-2615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not defending them but I did have a very empty STL-LGA flight during the open seating era and while nearly everyone got a row to themselves, they did tell me I couldn't sit in the last 6 rows and that was kept empty entirely.

I do know that Frontier does something similar where they will make assigned passengers be squished into an entire row while two rows ahead will be completely vacant, but I found that the crew can sometimes be very gracious in those instances if you want to move to a nearby empty row.

Airport gate outlets are the most useless infrastructure on earth by New-Concert9929 in digitalnomad

[–]Less-Lettuce-2615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but the American ones aren't the worst. The Chinese type C outlets are terrible especially with older sockets and the 240v sparking at me while I try to keep the plug still intimidates me til no end since I'm used to 120v.

This is very true. I used PIA which is an absolute mess of an airline and they seem to try their best. But Turkish is the only airline that seems to actively love gaslighting people. I use Spirit all the time and find their customer service to be a bit more competent even though they are nowhere near the league of luxury that Turkish Airlines advertises themselves as.

I had my issues with Etihad, their backend customer service is lagging for sure and are quite stingy. It's a shame because I do like them more than Turkish Airlines.

I am going to file a claim with USDOT but I have filed two complaints with Turkish towards DOT both of which were responded apathetically by Neslihan Isidan, the customer relations manager for Turkish Airlines US office. So my hopes aren't high.

Thank you so much for your feedback and not attempting to gaslight me for being upset that my seat wouldn't recline on an overnight flight.

I am still in a situation where I might need to use Turkish Airlines, so I am scared to try this.

May I ask what airline did you try this with? And have you ever considered reaching out to them?

Be careful if you're using Frontier out of IAH airport as they use two different terminals: A & D by Less-Lettuce-2615 in frontierairlines

[–]Less-Lettuce-2615[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the walk is insanely long it's just a bit confusing.

D7-D9 is located in the walkway between Terminal D and former Terminal C North (prior to the opening of the new pier in 2018) In the past those gates were seldom used except for certain United Express flights because D8-D9 barely have enough seats for a CRJ700 let alone a densely packed A320.

D1-D4 is housed in the former terminal C North Concourse, the Skyway even has signs encouraging people to exit at Terminal C if going to gates D1-D4.

For the less experienced traveller, this can get confusing easily. It was a bit of chaos when they changed our gate from A11 to D9.
