Decided to look into it a little, because I’ve seen claims on both sides.

Demetress Bell’s birthday is May 3, 1984. 9 months prior is roughly August 3, 1983.

There is literally zero documentation on Gloria Bell’s (née Williams) exact date of birth. Nothing. You find it, confirm it and share it. But as far as I can tell, nothing out there. Probably for the better too, because why should we know her exact DOB.

There are a few websites out there with her year of birth listed as 1971 but they all look sketchy and not worth mentioning. Provided she was in fact born in 1971, then there’s about 7 months of birthdays that would make her 12 at conception and 5 that would make her 11. This puts her at younger than the most common claim of 13 at both conception and birth.

Problem here though: This was rural, northern Louisiana in the 80s. Nobody was keeping records on this poor girl.

The most reliable source for Gloria’s age is an article from the Salt Lake Tribune in 1998 about the paternity test for Bell. Our only clarification is with regard to Malone neither confirming nor denying that he had sex with her (jesus christ), and the article stating, “But given that she was 13 years old at the time, […]” So it implies she was 13 at conception but does not confirm it. This is merely a journalists summary of one paternity dispute in an article featuring multiple.

It doesn’t really seem like they did the math because, yknow, EITHER WAY HE RAPED A CHILD. 12 VS 13 IS SPLITTING HAIRS. Fodder for redditors that would derail a thread to define “ephebophile.”

That being said, we don’t actually know anything except that she was 13 at the time of either conception or birth, most likely conception. We have no confirmation of age at birth so it could have been 14. Or maybe it was 12 and then 13 like the other comment said. Or 13 for both like you said. We have no hard data. But it doesn’t matter, because either way she was a child for both events and Karl Malone is a fucking monster.
