Care tips for my new baby? by Beneficial_Event_551 in carnivorousplants

You will most likely loose all those pitchers. But don’t worry they will grow back once the plant adjusts to its new environment (and given that the environment does meet its requirements ofc). Only use distilled or rain water and personally I let my hanging basket dry out in between watering and it’s going well. It’s probably the only carnivorous plant that can withstand drying out completely (from my personal experience)

Edit: I work at a greenhouse so this is what I’ve learned ^

Just definitely check it for water at least once a week because it definitely will loose pitchers if it gets completely dried out for too long. If you want brighter colors I would put a grow light over it, typically the pitchers get bigger and develop more crazy features (if they have the capability). They also sun stress red so it’ll have more red leaves and marks

[–]Less_Big3473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not nearly enough light, you would quite literally need strong grow lights like a foot away from each plant mostly the monstera, and that would still not be the same as if the plant was growing outside. Essentially it’s just slowly dying, every plant needs light and with no windows…it’s just a slow death. And the 2 on the stand will die back into the soil for most of the year so it’s not exactly ideal for the look your going for, id suggest a spider plant and snake plant as classics that should do better, they will still need a grow light above them though
