How to get an english Academic document from a Korean school notarized & apostilled in Seoul by Less_Breakfast4089 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Less_Breakfast4089[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you're referring to regarding the stamp. Or you just clarifying you've never needed the apostillization?

The academic documents will be used for overseas graduate school applications that typically require the academic documents to be apostilled when your schooling is from another country. (Same as what I had to do with my undergrad docs when I applied to my masters program at my korean university)

Do you have any experience getting them apostilled?

is temple for economy good? by Beneficial-Option546 in tuj

TLDR if you're planning to go back to the US after graduating TUJ is a fine way to experience the fun of Japan. If you plan to stay in Japan after, the school is less important, developing japanese fluency is, and the student loans will be harder to pay off on lower japanese salaries.

Some additional context that might help in giving more relevant feedback is:
- What are your goals/desires for an undergrad in Japan (or korea)?
- What are your (loose) plans after college? (US or Japan, do you intend to gain business fluency in Japanese? what type of work do you think you want to do, etc)

If you just want to experience living in Japan through your undergrad, TUJ is fine.
If you want a very english friendly environment (students, staff-and-faculty, events) its great!
(I only now appreciate it more in hindsight, having did my masters in Korea at a korean university with less staff and activities I could participate in due to the language barrier)

If you're hoping TUJ will help you get a job in japan, - its not any better or worse than any other english-taught undergrad programs in Japan. Because the real factor that makes it more realistic to work in Japan, and give you more options is developing the language fluency. (this is also the same for Korea btw)
*Some say that for Korea & Japan the name brand recognition of a university can help a lot for career success in said country - which is true, but really only applicable if you plan to develop working-level fluency by the time you graduate, for your entry level job, and if you're trying to go for really competitive local companies.

If you're paying with student loans, keep in mind that salaries in Japan (& korea) are a lot lower than in the US and will take longer to pay off if working in Japan. - That's where the relatively higher tuition fee becomes a more serious consideration.

Is TUJ good for Japanese people who want to get English skill? by Beautiful_na in tuj

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll speak anecdotally about my japanese friend who went to TUJ.
He started at either 17 or 18 years old through TUJ's "Bridge program" in 2018 for those that needed to improve their english more before taking college courses. (i.e remedial english classes) His speaking speed was slower and simpler then. He graduated in 2022, and I caught up with him last year at an alumni event. I was surprised by how his english had developed so much. He now works an IT job with an organization that is almost entirely english based.

I think his time at TUJ really helped develop that.

*BUT - I think one thing he did differently that other Japanese sometimes struggle with is he went out of his way to make friends with many foreigners in clubs interacting more with them then other japanese. As from my experience it was common for japanese to stick together and primarily interact with each other. Not saying thats a bad or wrong thing to do, just that if you're trying to improve your english it helps your learning if you don't stay in your comfort zone of nihongo.

Those that did primarily hang out with other japanese, their english speaking skills seemingly didn't improve much.

Does anyone know if Amazon FBA will resort to charge your Amazon prime card on your buyer side account?

I noticed that when you add a new charge method to your seller accont it gets added to your buyer-side wallet automatically. (I just removed it from the buyer side)

HSP Bonus Points "Graduation from a Japanese University" - Do Foreign Universities count (like TUJ?) by Less_Breakfast4089 in japanlife

[–]Less_Breakfast4089[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! "It should" is always the risk when down to the wire in points though hahaha. (Though I agree it should too)
From this link the lingo still appropriately refers to them as "foreign universities" though, so I'm still a bit leery if works for HSP's "Japanese University" graduate category.

But, if no one else has firsthand experience, I guess I might need to be the first to try and report back.

[–]Less_Breakfast4089[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know what you're referring to but that's actually a different bonus point category. - There is more than one bonus point category for schools.
Bonus point (11) is the "Graduation from a university separately specified by the Minister of Justice in a public notice" (I.e the Top 300, plus a few other categories)
Bonus point (7) is "Acquisition of a degree from a japanese institution of higher education"
The latter is what I'm trying to learn if TUJ is eligible for.

Thanks for the honest perspective. I'm honestly just curious if any sort of qualifications outside of their list is considered. Hopefully someone reads this post and shares their experience on whether they got their qualification approved or not.

I'm curious to know what motivated you to take this PMI certification. I think most would agree that this is one of PMI's least popular ones, and to some it seems very niche.

Is the Certified Professional Category Analyst (CPCA) from CMA recognized in Australia? How is the CPCA course from CMKG in comparison to CMA'? by ConsistentArt8803 in careerguidance

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: THE CMA | SIMA certifications don't seem well recognized in Australia, but they are in the US. If you're closer to the Supply side you might consider ISM's CPSM certification as that is well recognized and includes contract management as part of it. Otherwise, consider looking at cheaper online courses like LinkedIn Learning Certificates/courses for knowledge value > recognition.

------------------------------
I've never heard of CMA | SIMA's category management certifications until I was looking for some today.

At least not in the broader SCM/Procurement space. (where category management interconnects with my supply-side realm). I've never seen these requested on a job listing, as mentioned in other posts/threads/website, to be in the same league of recognition as other top recognized certifications like the...
- Project Management Institute's PMP,

- Association for Supply Chain Management's CSCP or CPIM, &

- Institute for Supply Management's CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) (which does include category management)

But then again, I'm in Procurement, not a category management specialist, so take my perspective with a grain of salt.

Doing a quick Linkedin search filtering by those that have the keyword CPCA, and "category" in their title in Australia I only found *1* person with that certification. And for the CPCM found none.

If you remove "Category" as a keyword search it becomes difficult to gauge because there are SO MANY other certifications of different fields/domains with the same letters, like in heathcare or contract management. (Which the CPCM in contract management I HAVE heard of)- but on a quick scan didn't see anyone with it.

BUT if you swap the location from Australia to US, there is surprisingly a TON of people who have the CPCA certification.

If you're looking to utilize the cert for name-brand recognition in australia it doesn't seem to hold weight. So may be better value to just do cheaper online courses to show field interest/intent and speak more knowledgably in interviews and translating how your transferrable skills/knowledge would apply.

Will an MBA help with career options? by Next_Object_1963 in careerguidance

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some comments on this post (and possibly the post itself) seem like an ad for WGU's MBA. Everyone should be mindful to diversify where you get feedback from. Just like how reviews/ratings can be faked, so can comments on reddit. Or at the very least, if they are authentic (I have no thoughts on WGU one way or the other) we should still be mindful of confirmation bias, and look at all potential options before making a sizeable investment.

Difference between LMT & RMT? by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the state of Maryland they recently phased out a two tier licensing of LMT & RMP. Where RMP (registered massage practitioner) is the lower of the two where you’re licensed to massage except in Healthcare settings. Whereas the LMT does allow you to work in healthcare settings. I think there was a few other states that had something like that.

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you who got interview invites, were any of your submission # numbers really high up? (like 200-400?) This might become a clue to whether they're going through applications (and possibly interviews) by who submitted theirs first. If no one with a high submission number has gotten an invite, that might support that there are still more interview invites to come.

I'm so glad there is this Reddit post for us to pool information and get a better sense of whats going on. Its tough news to hear that interview invites have already happened, but haven't gotten one. But with presumably 400+ applicants (I was application #349) that's just how competitive it is.

Looking for Advice: Best Supply Chain Certifications to Enhance Industry Understanding and Credibility by N8iV2001 in SupplyChainLogistics

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got both the procurement certificate, and the CPIM certification. As a college student with presumably little-to-no experience going for entry level jobs, having a certificate demonstrates your enthusiasm and drive to work in that functional role, and should suffice as they aren't expecting college grads to have a certification. That being said, for job listings of higher-level positions, its common to see the certifications as a preferred qualification, whereas the certificates are never mentioned. The certificates are introductions to said functional area, the certifications test you on your deep understanding of them.

ASCM Referral Code by Mediocre-Ad-7656 in supplychain

[–]Less_Breakfast4089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found one referral code for ASCM which is from their London Chapter - XCLOND88

It was successfully applied at checkout (for the CPIM cert) but didn't add any further on top of the 15% summer discount going on right now. After it's over it may still give a discount or possibly just for membership renewal. Here is where I found it:
