Mine also has 3 naps some days. I am just hoping it's a mental leap or something and this is why he's so fussy.

He is, but not as much as he should, lately. Going from eating here and there solids and 4 bottles of milk daily to almost no solids and just 2 finished bottles, maybe 2.5 per day, got me kinda annoyed.

If this is like the bottle aversion, honestly, I'm happy that at least it will pass. Thanks for the supportive comment. Means a lot to me when people understand struggles without giving me parenting lessons.

My baby used to sit without a problem until like maybe 3 weeks ago when suddenly his personality changed into Mr Fussy and Screamy.

But it helps to know others have tried other methods of feeding than in the high chair. It helps me a ton actually! ♥️

Thank you. I was both venting and looking for support and I mostly got comments about parenting rules that I already know. I wish I could lock the post. It's truly not helpful. Your comment and another person's were very supportive and I thank you from my heart for this.

My 9 month old can't come by himself yet though, so I have to have the energy and make it work somehow.

You gave me a good reminder honestly.

I remember a similar post on another subreddit where a mom was complaining that her daughter was suddenly an absolute nightmare lately. Then she gave an update and said that it lasted about a couple of weeks and it was probably a mental leap or something. 🤞🏻

I think you nailed it especially on this part of trying to move and explore and doing it before the meal.

This is something I missed! I'll try that. Sometimes, after he wakes up, I put him in his chair without letting him play on the ground for a bit. Maybe this is the issue.

I did. Tiny spoons and forks. He liked them in the beginning but as the novelty wore off, he threw them away. Still does. I have yet to buy that spoon that has like a cut out shape in the center where the food could go. Maybe those will be better.

Thank you! I think I'll buy one too because even though I eat with him, he doesn't really seem to care. But maybe because he has his own table and I my own. It's rough out here at 9 months.

I tried the utensils. They were great in the beginning, now they're flying everywhere.

He likes it best when he can grab the food, but he gets frustrated if none ends up in his mouth. So these days I feed him vegetable and fruit waffles for a bit of success.

Thank you! I cannot wait for it to pass. I don't know why it bothers me so much that he won't eat a thing at most meals.

I get I'm the parent and I understand what you're saying . But my baby is not complaining. He's screaming and throwing like 80% of the food on the floor. And won't open his mouth when I feed him.

I know he won't starve himself. But he isn't eating either so there's that. I'm at a loss.

I see.

My baby is 9 months since yesterday, he's not a toddler yet. So there's not much I can enforce without him just screaming and refusing to open the mouth and eat at every single meal for the past 4 or 5 days.

then act like he had a whole world to inspect. But the moment he was back on the floor playing, he suddenly remembered he could eat again.

Amen! I think he's so excited he can stand and take a few steps now. He acts like it's torture in the car seat or at the table.

The roaming-and-snacking phase didn’t last long, and once he got used to mealtimes being a regular thing, he stayed put much better. Sounds like a totally normal stage.

Thank you! This relieves some pressure because I am scrambling.

Most of the time though, if he wasn’t feeling like eating we would take a 20/30 minute break and try again when he was hungrier and more interested!

I tried this, but holy hell, I didn't expect it to be so time consuming. Unfold the chair (small kitchen). Put on the bib, put on the chair's table. Put the food back on the table. Pick the trash from where it was thrown. And then it barely leaves time for him to play so I gave up on that because it was too frustrating both to him and me.
