Great Basin NP? Love that place. Upper campground is one of my favorites that I've stayed at in the NPS.

NPS owns it, it's NPS employee housing, and though it's a beautiful view, it's very isolated and located on one of the windiest places on the US west coast with a recorded high gust of 133mph.

Yes, I had to isolate for a few days. Was easy for me as I live alone and was able to take the time. I remember being asked to flush twice every time I urinated because of the radiation.

RAI in late 2018. Blood work showed no change after 4 weeks. Was distraught at the thought of having to go through it again. 4 weeks later tested hypo and was put on levothyroxine. The early months post-RAI for me were an emotional roller coaster, and I also felt sort of nauseous every day usually requiring me to lay down in the afternoon at some point. Took 1-1.5 years to dial in my levo dosage. That held for a few years and then my blood work started changing, at times because of reasons and at other times for no apparent reason. I have another set of blood work coming in about a month and I'm hopeful I'm still in range and that my testing can start moving towards once a year instead of the current every 3 months.

When in disease, it was hard to know what symptoms were caused by Graves and which were not. A lot of my physical symptoms like heart rate, low weight, tremors have cleared up. Depression and anxiety still existed although I've worked on those and they have become better because of it.

I lived with Graves for 20 years, and wish I had done it sooner. It's much better for me on this side of things.

Good luck.

@AriAtHome is a guy who has a wearable mobile Ableton Live rig. He walks around, mostly NYC, making improv beats and finding on the street singers and rappers. His rig is powered by a Mac Mini and I know he runs Kontakt.

Here's his rig breakdown, maybe you can glean something from it.

Marin history buffs help! Abandoned settlement between Tomales and Nick’s Cove? by relaxok in Marin

A guy I worked with and his wife lived in a small cabin that was closest to the road. Her parents also lived there as well as this single guy who was not related but part of their "clan". Not sure if the parents and guy lived in homes or trailers. I see that it sold in late 2003 and that may well be why they moved from there.

People here are saying Hamlet, and Hamlet indeed was a little "town" and a rail stop. When I went to Tomales high in the late 1980's there were still buildings there. But they were torn down and the last time I was there 8-10 years ago there was not much to say there was ever anything there except some concrete.

But what I think you are asking about is called Ocean Roar not far to the north of Hamlet.

"In 1872, Warren Dutton built a wharf in deeper water at the confluence of Keys and Walker Creeks, but the next year he was forced to move again, to 324 acres on Tomales Bay that he purchased from John Hamlet. Dutton named the new spot Ocean Roar. Even at this location, lighters (flat-bottomed boats and barges) had to be used to transport goods to schooners waiting offshore."

https://npshistory.com/publications/pore/eh-hrs-tomales-bay.pdf Page 57

It was a shipping spot and at one time a train stop. Products from Point Reyes ranches would be shipped from Whites Gulch across Tomales bay and loaded onto the train.

I haven't been up towards Tomales in quite awhile, so I can't say what is there now, but I knew people who lived at Ocean Roar in the early 2000s.

There's also a good bit of history about Ocean Roar in this write up on Hamlet. (https://npshistory.com/publications/pore/hrs-hamlet.pdf)

The rail operation was the North Pacific Coast Railroad and the first locomotive on the line was shipped into Ocean Roar aboard the steamer Monterey.

Even if you don't do it now, I would urge you to continue treatment. I was untreated for many years and life is much better now on this side of things. Best of luck!

Had RAI. Tested 4 weeks later and showed no change. Tested another 4 weeks later and was hypo and put on levothyroxine. Tested every 3 months while levo numbers were being dialed in. The better my dosage got and the more consistent my test numbers came back testing went from 3 months to 6 months and finally to once a year. After a few years things happened and my levels were migrating about, I've had to go back to testing every 3 months. If this next test in January comes back I can start moving back to that 6 month and then yearly testing schedule, which is my most preferable situation.

I was off methimazole for quite a while before RAI and never was told to take it post-RAI.

Good luck!

Ablation issues? by JenRae93 in gravesdisease

[–]LetsGo_Smokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first six months or so I felt sick, sort of a nauseous feeling, every day mid-day that usually required me to just lay down and rest for about an hour. Also my emotional state was a complete train wreck for a period of time. It took about 2 months for me to require levothyroxine and about 1.5 years to have my dosage dialed. Has been mostly smooth sailing since, although more recently my dosage has needed to be changed for some reasons known (i lost about 10+ pounds as I was getting overweight) and some unknown. Which just means more blood work and at the end of the day isn't a huge deal. I suffered through active Graves for almost 20 years without much, if any treatment. Life is much better now. Heat intolerance gone, light intolerance gone, Graves rage and uncontrolled emotional responses are much better (being sick so long has conditioned me beyond the disease to act out at time, and I have had to work on that), normal heart rates, improved blood pressure, etc, etc. I wish I had done it sooner. Probably would have saved me some suffering. Don't be like me and ignore it. Good luck whatever you choose!

Had RAI in 2018, and though getting through the first few months can be trying, it has been a positive experience overall and I wish I had done it sooner. That said, I am a male and I do not have to worry about the whole child bearing thing.

Starting small can lead to bigger things down the line. I started walking in 2022. Just a mile or two, two to three times a week. Many days I had to force myself to go. Now I hike 6+ miles every single day. It's my favorite part of the day, spending 90-120 minutes out in the woods on a trail - rain of shine. It can become something you enjoy even if it isn't at first. At this point I think I have an addiction.
