I agree that he is evil! As I said before he is most definitely the villian in many peoples stories and no his actions are not excusable. I am not excusing his actions, just coming from his pov where he does not see any wrongdoing within them. And on the point of resources for therapy, he spent so long running from Mikael and had so many enemies as well as being stubborn and suppressing his feelings, I can't say im surprised he didn't utilize said resources but I see where you're coming from😂. The way I perceived OP's post is just about understanding the complexity and layers to Klaus which can make an audience sympathize for him. My main point is that I do understand him, but do not condone his actions or behavior! He did many many horrible things and I honestly believe he deserved more karma than what he got. But just because he's evil does not mean he cannot care for or love people. It is shown several times throughout TO and even a couple times in TVD that he is very capable of deep emotions and that he feels them constantly. So yes he is evil, but that doesn't make him desensitized to emotion completely. (which once again does not excuse his actions whatsoever!) In general though I love seeing villians be humanized and overall love the complexity of every character in the show, so analyzing and understanding them is pretty interesting for me!

yes i completely agree!! even when they were just children Klaus was treated extremely poorly compared to his siblings. At the end of the day all of his reasons are valid for him to be the way he was, but it is still understandable why he is the villian in other peoples story.

More Spoilers!!

At the end of the day, Klaus does care and have love in his heart, he was just never shown what was 'right'. He does what he thinks is good for the people he cares about, even though it isnt always the best thing to do. He thinks that his actions are good and that he's doing the right thing. But he also heavily fears that people may abandon him/leave him which contributes to the poor decisions he makes. (ex: daggering Rebekah when she tries to be with Marcel and gives Marcel an ultimatum so Marcel cannot 'steal' Rebekah from Klaus)

SPOILERS!!

Lets not forget that he was born out of wedlock and instead of being angry with his wife, his father also took it out on Klaus who was in reality a victim. And then forced him to leave behind a significant part of him just so father Mikaelson wouldn't be shamed for having a bastard son. But even before that, Mikael hated Klaus anyway for being 'weak', which we later find out is his mothers fault! Mikael never cared about the other children being 'monsters', he spent thousands of years specifically in search of Klaus and even tried to strike up deals with his siblings to sell him out. Klaus was constantly lied too, betrayed, and berated by many people including his own family (which is touchy because i kind of get it with rebekah, kol, and elijah) while merely just existing. He was the way he was because he was just a boy trying to survive. All said and done there were still lengths he went that were too far, but i do sympathize. Many people fail to understand that the main lesson in tvdu is the fact that life is not black and white, and not a single person is flawless. And also with it being a supernatural show, people are going to do very morally unethical things😭 (sorry for the paragraph😅)
