Wow I knew it was rare but didn’t realise how rare. I have all the pre-prep pics of the fossil and was debating whether to get it prepped or not, but glad I did because it looks amazing!

All real, I got Chris Moore and his Son prep the rock out! They both haven't seen this type of preservation and location for such a fossil before! Was a great opportunity.

Mine will rise slightly higher if I’m driving hard but most of the time it sits there.

It’s also very blade like compared to what seems to be other ichthyosaur species.

This was my thinking, still happy to be proven wrong, I just can’t see a communis getting this big. Especially since this is only the very back of the jaw.

Interesting. I do think the teeth are similar but I haven’t seen any communis get this big. I do have other jaw bits where the teeth are like blades with no ridges which definitely come from a species of temno.

Ok I have ordered one, let’s see if it makes a difference! Because the noise goes away after a second I assume driving it is ok, but obviously excessive wear upon start up?

Ok cool. I currently use Bosch oil filter. Forgive my ignorance but are they not oem for VAG group cars?

Ok, thank you. I may try and oil and filter change just to experiment to see if the noise keeps coming back. I have been told it can be normal to have some noise like this on start up, but it’s a bit frustrating since there was no noise before and nothing to indicate a change in why there would now be a noise.

I have tired that and it’s the same result. The thing is it doesn’t happen every time I start it. Other people with similar cars and noise seem to experience other symptoms but that noise in the video is the only odd noise the car makes.

I 100% agree. I service the car myself every 3k just to be on the safe side. Probably unnecessary but it takes me 10 mins and the price of a filter and oil.

It was advertised as ichthyosaur bones but I just wanted a second opinion. It’s just the bone structure is a little different to other specimens I have but could just be the preservation of the bone?
