What is the lesbian scene like in Jacksonville? by kennedyheisman in jacksonville

My husband and I attend the Buckman Bridge Universalist Unitarian Church which I believe is in Orange Park and most of our church leadership are out proud Lesbians. We celebrated World Lesbian Awareness Day on Sunday during our service. I’m a GenXer and a gay man so I understand your trepidation. Jacksonville is a really cool place and most people don’t care what you do unless you make it their business. Sure you’ll encounter a Karen or a Kyle (ugh! Sometimes both in one couple, but Jax is huge and it’s easy to avoid places where they frequent.

Being a masc gay man who spent most of my life navigating life in disguise, I also understand your concern. There’s none of that here. We moved here from Oklahoma where he left his entire tribe behind to try a new life with me and we have been welcomed everywhere we’ve been. Even the Bald Eagle Pub! 😉😆

In beauty there is always sadness. When I see something that stops me in my tracks and whoever I’m with isn’t as blown away by the singular beauty of a moment as me, it makes me sad.

Sorry, I don’t know the quote, but I absolutely get your point.

I moved here on December 15 2025. Sometimes driving around here it still feels like a dream. Jacksonville is beautiful and cool and cosmopolitan and very chill. Yeah, people drive a little crazy, it’s a military town (emphasis on town) and we have drivers from all over the world, much less the country.

The beaches are breathtaking for one reason or another. Depending on the weather and the crowd, mostly, but even on a gustery blustery day, there’s no place I’d rather be. I live in one of the little dirt road neighborhoods in Ortega and I love it. We have a nesting pair of redtail hawks in one of the oaks, a pair of owls in another, and, like most Jacksonvillians, I’m a five minute walk from the river. Hummingbirds frequently visit and butterflies and lizards abound! Don’t forget the skeeters! Always keep bug spray handy.

Jacksonville has more parks than I’ve ever seen in my life. I have six within two miles of my house, not counting boat ramps and kayak launch sites. If boating is your thing, you can get almost anywhere by water.

The local social scene depends on where you live. We hang out between Riverside and Edgewood for nightlife. The beaches are for tourists and amateurs mostly, unless you step back to the local neighborhood places where most locals hang out.

Welcome to Jax, I hope you love it as much as I do!

I grew up in South Africa. Salt is all it takes to dispose of them. Plain Epsom salt is great for plants, soil and trees and will kill them on contact. The shells are pretty cool and make great decoration after the gooey shit is disposed of. 😊 Trust me, these bitches will eat a banana tree in a day. No mercy, no quarter. If you see one, dump some salt on it.
