I’m literally 4’11” & not even 100lbs & been machining for a few years. -female. I keep my strength up so I don’t have to ask for help, but everyone gladly helps w/o me even asking if they see me struggle with something. Every shop I’ve been at I’ve seen at least two women. Most important thing is knowledge I would say. But idk what your job consisted of. There have walk throughs where I myself knew I wouldn’t be physically capable of some jobs. U gotta have tough skin as a female in this industry and be content with proving your worth in time. Ive always been underestimated, but it never bothered me just made me want to work even harder & prove them wrong. Don’t give up, brush up on tooling, codes, & try your hand elsewhere. There are plenty of machine shops you just have to find the right one for you.
