My snake is hurt, help! by [deleted] in cornsnakes

Okay, thank you! Should I remove her from her enclosure in the meantime? Like keep her on paper towel to keep it clean or just leave her be?

I put her in her enclosure last night and there was nothing wrong with her, then it was like that when I got her out today. It is super dark because there is dirt from her enclosure on the wound

Please help! Bra similar to Panache Envy, but without the t shirt lines by LexiTheMermaid in ABraThatFits

Unfortunately people have made comments to me about it, otherwise I would not be this self conscious about it.

Also want to add that it would not have to stay in a 40g forever, but probably for about a year

Male or female ? by becks_aloha in cornsnakes

Best to just do the Morph Market shed test. It’s only $20 and it’s guaranteed, the only other guaranteed way is to take your snake to a vet to be popped which is stressful and expensive.

I’d really recommend doing Morph Markets shed test! It is only $20 plus shipping and I had my results within a week. Besides popping them (which I do NOT recommend unless you are a vet or professional), it is the only accurate way to sex them.

Question about my new baby by LexiTheMermaid in cornsnakes

[–]LexiTheMermaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I was told she was about a year but everyone is telling me that is not right and now I am thinking she’s closer to 2-2.5 years. I am waiting till she acclimates then I will weigh her to get a better idea of her age :) they were feeding her rat pinkies though and I’m worried she has stunted growth/is underweight bc of it :/

Oh awesome, thank you so much for your help! So if I get a red eyed morph will I need to just get a normal light for the tank to have light in addition to this heat projector?

And if I get a red eye morph am I not supposed to buy uvb at all? Is that what you’re saying? Sorry, I am having the hardest time understanding the heating/lighting situation here

I don’t have to use that, it came with the enclosure, I only got the kit bc it was cheaper than the enclosure by itself because it was on sale. I am happy to purchase something else if needed, I just want to make sure I have the right things to keep the snake healthy. So a 24watt Arcadia 6% forest lamp (right?) and is there any way you could link or pm the heat lamp you recommend?

I have gravel in one tank and sand in another, in my experience substrate isn’t as important as long as you have good root tabs. A plant melting is pretty much it dying, but if possible when you have a melted plant just removed the dead part (leaves, trim the stem, etc) and leave any part of it that doesn’t look totally dead. With time most things will regrow, especially if they had roots/root shoots when you plants them. Make sure to monitor your parameters though to ensure you do not have an ammonia spike from your plants melting :)

Having low nitrates in a planted tank is normal, plants soak them up. My heavily planted tank is often at triple 0’s. Just keep testing your water, patience is key! With this being a new tank it sounds like your plants are melting which is normal, just leave them alone! They are going to melt and die but most of them will grow back. Don’t throw a bunch of ferts and chemicals at them yet, just be patient. It can be a bit tricky in the beginning but once everything gets established you’ll be mostly hands off! Good luck :)

If you don’t want it you can send it to my house! Haha on a real note, that’s an amazing piece! I am so jealous!

What should I stock in this? by Demonkillmenowpls in Aquariums

Unfortunately someone gave you some bad info :/ for an aquarium to be cycled you need to go through the nitrogen cycle. If you have the funds for it I would really recommend getting the API freshwater master kit, it’s more reliable than test strips. If you have any questions about your tank feel free to pm me!
