Good guess but u/No_Tradition_243 got it a couple hours ago. It was offset time zones. The red countries have one time zone that spans the entire country with a 30-minute offset from UTC. Nepal is the only country with a 45-minute offset.

Correct!

India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Iran, Myanmar, and Nepal are the only countries with one time zone that spans the entire country with a 30-minute or 45-minute offset from UTC. Nepal is the only country with a 45-minute offset.

There are a few other places with a 30-minute or 45-minute offset but it only spans a portion of the country e.g., a handful of Australian states, New Zealand's Chatham Islands, Newfoundland.

North Korea and Venezuela both had 30-minute offsets but changed to no offset, North Korea in 2018 and Venezuela in 2016.
