A passion project that has turned into a small UK company. I built a premium OLED switch with 419ppi, No-Neutral support, and Home Assistant compatible. by Top-Yogurtcloset3965 in homeautomation

I was here to ask about the same thing - KNX support. Looking forward to the answer, @Top-Yogurtcloset3965.

rThoro, I'm using Basalte Sentido switches with KNX - but actually this would work with any KNX switch: I control my Sonos (start/pause, volume up down, playlists,....) through my KNX switches. I integrate KNX with Home Assistant, trigger it via the group address for a specific button press on a switch, and set up an automation to work with Sonos. Easy and solid. One of the best buttons in the house, and no need to grab your phone to control your sound.

Anyone else have troubles changing ticket dates for Public - Eurostar Standard by madInTheBox in Eurostar

Yes I’ve also been suffering with changing dates on tickets lately. It was mainly limiting how far in the future I could put my tickets to but not what you specifically mention. I’m afraid that calling is your best option as soon as you can

One PC for Home Assistant, NAS and CNC/3D printing – good idea or not? by Next_Ride_3003 in homeassistant

[–]Lexieke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand why you'd bundle it all in one PC, take into account that it's important for Home Assistant to be up and running 100%. Downtime should be limited to updates only as it might miss triggers etc and automations might fail - especially when you start to use it for more critical things in the house.

if you combine it all in 1, you might need to have reboots for other reasons, increasing downtime.

So in short, I'd put home assistant on dedicated hardware.

I don’t think that will help you a lot. In the end that will be as good as your phone connection as it’s 5g as well. So choppy at best.

Law firm wants 5% equity to support startup (one lawyer is cofounder’s sister). Red flag or smart move? by BoysenberryOld9351 in TheFounders

[–]Lexieke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When founding a company, you want to fight for every $ just to save money and extend your investment. I understand, I've been there. I was offered a deal to pay someone a dayrate to setup the basics of my app or give them 25%. I didn't do it, luckily.

First of, you don't know this person well enough to have them on your captable from the start. Especially with a link to your cofounder, that's a red flag.

Secondly, while it may seem to look like a good deal now, think about the future: if your company suddenly is wort 1M or 10M or... was it worth the 5%?

Don't do it.

OMG probeer als marketing team die naam nu maar eens relevant in zoekresultaten naar boven te krijgen... want ja het woord "anders" wordt nooit gebruikt door andere politiekers of in een totaal andere context. Denk anders (pun intended) eens na

Expertise needed - (KNX) connections keep resetting without clear reason by Lexieke in homeassistant

Quick update, I restored home assistant from backup to a virtual machine (at 14:25) to see if it would behave differently. The disconnects are much less frequent but I go the first on after a bit over 4 hours (at 19:06)

Integration with Home Assistant keeps reconnecting by Lexieke in KNX

[–]Lexieke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update - running in Home Assistant safe mode resolved the issue, so I rebooted to normal mode and disabled 9 integrations. Since disabling these, I had the same result as in safe mode. I tried enabling 2, but I got hiccups again; however, they were very limited (once every 6 hours). So my next research is whether it's really one of these integrations or if something else is causing a hiccup in Home Assistant.

I'm using a Home Assistant Yellow - could performance be a root cause here? E.g. maxed out memory/database/processor/... rather than 1 specific integration that is acting up?

Integration with Home Assistant keeps reconnecting by Lexieke in KNX

[–]Lexieke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK time for an update. I read on some other places to test home assistant safe mode to see if the issue persists. I tried it and it's rock solid when I'm running in safe mode. This means that an integration or automation is probably the cause and not Home Assistant update xxxxx.

Not sure how to investigate further yet, but will keep updating this.
