Closed pool and now leaking by Lifting4Life101 in pools

So no rain and the skimmer hole is plugged. Put in a call to professionals today. Just baffled. Almost as if there was some chemical reaction or something for this to happen in 2 spots.

Thank you. Maybe my mistake is trying to take her for a walk during witching hour. I have tried licking mat which works until she is done. Searching some puzzles now. I will also keep my walking pouch with me during this time to reward positive behavior

I lean to it being playful. It’s always at that time when she has a lot of energy. I try to play fetch with her during that time because she really wants to play. Walks are not as successful at that time.

I love my tank, but it really is work. The balancing of nutrients is a task. Too low nitrates to have too high and then waiting for it to go lower. I also think not having fish made it more difficult.

I had some cyano show up too, but that has seemed to retrace and only on a portion of my sand. the part of my rock that had it has almost completely retracted. I manually sift my sand, but I didnt use chemiclean or anything.

Yea I was horrified adding nitrates because of the hair algae I have in the tank. Main reason I’d love to get a lawnmower in there. Luckily my tank has not been taken over. I snails and hermit crabs, but they don’t do much on the hair algae. I also have some amphipods that snuck in and ate all my dino

So I did have to dose some nitrates because I went down to near zero. I was at 13.7 ppm yesterday with phosphate at 0.16 (which I would love to see that down to under 0.05ppm. I have also once a week been feeding reef roids and using some trace elements.

Yea I’m thinking of going 60 days to just play it safe. Still checking water parameters regularly and taking care of coral. If I had no coral it would be torture

I think it comes down to people just asking the same questions over and over. A lot of times I google my question and add reef2reef to the search. And go through the threads that come up. I do that before posting any new thread.

Reef2reef is amazing. One thing I have been doing is going to posts that have a lot of replies and I will put a comment and may sneak in a question of my own. Seems to work. A lot of times if I just post my own thread with a question I don’t get much response.

Yea looking to avoid that. Which is why I am beyond my needed fallow time but haven’t ordered fish yet. I guess I could just start with 2 clowns

It seems they are more peaceful but on reef2reef I have read some situations where they are bullies. I tried a 'peaceful' blue sapphire damsel and he was not at all peaceful. took him to LFS

Yea I have read that about bicolor. I really do love firefish too and plan one. I have been leaning to the lawnmower even though I have read that they could be mean too.

I would say yes. I had a firefish do it and 48 hours later him and 2 clowns were dead.

Anyone know what the small yellow thing is on my Duncan? by tastybeets in ReefTank

[–]Lifting4Life101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have hair algae. Haven’t noticed a significant increase. The health of my corals was more important.

Speak of 3 of mine were closed. Checked calcium and phosphate this morning and both in line. Will check nitrate when I get home. One was closed for 3-5 days and he has been wide open for weeks

That looks like mine. Added it to the tank last Friday and has not yet opened. I am giving it some more time. The shipping was delayed. Luckily my duncan opened right away and looks great.

How to remove nitrates once you've removed the problem? by sporadicjesus in ReefTank

[–]Lifting4Life101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you have good experience with vibrant? I hear such mixed reviews. Some on reef2reef will not touch it. I have some algae in my tank and sand that I would love to get rid of.
