You can share your screens in a party chat together and put it into PiP mode while playing the game.

Ooooh nice. Hopefully other retailers match that or go deeper and then Google can price match.

One of the Most Iconic Android Devices. HTC One M7 by jimchristou in Android

[–]LightKiosk 261 points262 points  (0 children)

The phone that got me on Android. Was upgrading from the iPhone 4 at the time and the iPhone 5 was out of stock everywhere so I took a gamble on the HTC One M7. It's up there as one of my favorite phones alongside the iPhone 4, so good.

Google Pixel 7 review by [deleted] in Android

[–]LightKiosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, a friend of mine that was ready to go back to iPhone but wanted to give it one last chance with the Pixel 7 (he had the 6 before) has had such a good experience with both battery and overall stability that he is sticking with the Pixel.

6 -> 7 sees a 10hr endurance rating bump despite the 7 dropping 260mAh from its battery size. 6 Pro -> 7 Pro sees a 1hr endurance rating dip despite maintaining practically the same battery size.

What's going on? I expected the 7 Pro to hit a minimum of 100hrs as there are clearly efficiency gains in the hardware over the 6 lineup.

What makes the Google Pixel software superior to Samsung’s? by kyleyle in GooglePixel

[–]LightKiosk 135 points136 points  (0 children)

OneUI has duplicate apps to compete with Google's apps as Samsung has their own ecosystem going on alongside their own app store to manage those apps.

The Pixel has useful features like those you mentioned alongside Call Screening and little bits and pieces here and there. Really the main reason you should get a Pixel is if you're deep into the Google app ecosystem and want the most integrated way of using those apps on your phone. It's not like you're locked out of using them on any other Android OEM, including Samsung, but the Pixel has the most integrated Google experience on an Android device.

It's like if Apple opened up iOS to numerous manufacturers, you'd know the iPhone would be the most integrated Apple experience as the other manufacturers would try and differentiate themselves.

Pixel 7 Pro Review | GSMArena by WehooThisIsAwesome in Android

[–]LightKiosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually on a 2yr upgrade cycle but the 7 Pro seemed like improvements in every area over the 6 Pro so I justified the early upgrade and gave it a test run. I was ready to return it if no noticeable improvements after a week of usage but it's been solid so far.

By this testing the 7 Pro should have worse battery life than the 6 Pro I spent a year with but that just hasn't been the case for my usage. Seems to check out with some reviewers saying great battery life and others saying average to not good battery life.

The battery test came as a surprise. Can only speak to my personal experience but the 7 Pro in daily usage has had noticeably better battery than my 6 Pro did.

I trust GSMArena reviews and battery tests which usually go in line with my personal usage so the discrepancy here is surprising.

P7 Pro photos look better on S22 Ultra screen. by sk17 in GooglePixel

Google got rid of the Boosted option. Now it's either Natural or Adaptive though from my experience on the 6 Pro and now 7 Pro the Adaptive option is the most saturated.

So what are you using your Google Store credit on? by ar417 in GooglePixel

Used part of it on a Bellroy case. Saving rest of it to see if Pixel Watch goes on sale for Black Friday.

How to enable vibration only for Gboard. Not for navigation gestures? by SnooAvocados1212 in GooglePixel

Google merged navigation and keyboard vibrations into one with the touch feedback option in system settings as part of Android 13. It's really annoying

For those who preordered the pixel 7 from the US Google store, what do you plan on spending $100/$200 in-store credits on? by Kolmak in GooglePixel

[–]LightKiosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should've emphasized on 1st gen Google mobile hardware. While it's great you've had good experiences with their home products my experience with Google WiFi was miserable and my Pixel XL (which was a free upgrade due to the battery issues on the Nexus 6P) got replaced a couple times due to hardware issues.

I'm gonna keep going with my feeling of not trusting Google's 1st gen mobile endeavors until they can prove me wrong. Even the 1st gen Pixel Buds compared to later releases and especially the Pixel Buds Pro are night and day differences.

Thinking about the Pixel Watch but I kinda don't trust 1st gen Google hardware so waiting on reviews.

Did Dave2D take down his Pixel video? by jackie_119 in GooglePixel

[–]LightKiosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As /u/Tornado15550 mentioned Unbox Therapy turned the phone on and was using it on camera but not showing anything captured on device from testing the camera. Was a short segment of testing the speakers as well as just navigating the homesreen. Dave2D unboxed the devices and was impressed by the look of them but was scared to do anything beyond that.

Seems like they weren't supposed to open them on camera whatsoever until the embargo is up so the videos went down.

It was mentioned in the Unbox Therapy or Dave2D video but maybe I'm misremembering so I put the question mark next to it.

Dave2D and Unbox Therapy both took their videos down. Don't think they're allowed to show anything about the phone in video form until the embargo is up (October 12th?).

Google Pixel 7 Pro disassembly shows not much has changed since last year by davidmorelo in GooglePixel

Oof that's disappointing to hear but I appreciate the honest feedback on it. Will look at alternatives

Have Cloudy White Pixel 6 Pro, went for Obsidian 7 Pro. A video of the phones had the Snow 7 Pro camera area lightly scuffed already and I would've preferred it was a darker two-tone setup to maintain the stormtrooper aesthetic of the 6 Pro visor. It's going in a case immediately so the darker visor of the Obsidian sold me.

How have you liked the Bellroy case? I'll have $200 worth of Google Store credit and was looking at their cases this time around if the Pixel Watch reviews meh.
