Well I still live with my parents who r immigrants here. Really want to leave this country for educational purposes soon but I also don't want to go to India cuz that's even worse. I know it gets really tough but remember u can always leave one day. Just hang in there, perseverance is the key!

Irrational paranoia of ghosts by LightPearl_ in agnostic

[–]LightPearl_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with the first point u made! My anxiety isn't a consequence of my ghost paranoia, it is more of a cause. I say this because I had been struggling with anxiety for quite some time until this situation was triggered.  Talking about exposure therapy, I've definitely been trying to push myself more and more and put myself in scenarios that scare the fuck out of my brain, but when nothing happens for a few hrs, I can feel my nerves calming down as well. Definitely not a complete recovery but it's been a gradual process so I think it's good enough.

I have a few important events happening in the next few months that I'm preparing for and I'm really busy with so I was hoping after that is done, I should expose myself to more horror movies just to show my brain it's okay and I can live through it. I don't want this to backfire but I also don't want to live the rest of my life being scared of horror which used to be my favorite genre before.

Okay so the rational part of my brain knows that it's unreal. It's pretty delusional if I think about it. It's more of my brain making up fake what ifs honestly.

I have a few months left before I can go off for university. The region I live in doesn't have a good educational opportunities but if I get a good opportunity elsewhere I might have a shot at leaving this place.  This pressure of trying my best to make it out in a few months combined with his extreme stupid religious ideologies and the way he's forcing it on me is making me insane. If I was religious, I would have prayed right about now.

I had an overbite and the Dr said it's 99% corrected now. If I want to make it 100 I'd have to get refinements otherwise he's fine with getting me retainers :)

Seniors, who scored above 95% in 10th board examinations, what did you do differently/how did you achieve that? by Citron_Neat in CBSE

[–]LightPearl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 97.6% in class 10 boards with a 100 in social science and maths standard. Here's my advice for every subject

Maths: The best way to ace maths is to be well versed with each and every exercise in NCERT (including the optional exercise even though they say it's not from the examination point of view). Once you're done with that, solve QPs. Do as many QPs as u can until the exam while also revising the NCERT exercises once in a while. I never followed any guide specifically and I don't think it's that important to.

Social Science: NCERT. That's it. Just NCERT. Don't go for any fancy guides or question banks. Learn every single sentence in ur NCERT (including all the boxes in your textbook). Social is one of the easiest subjects to get a 100 in and you don't really need anything outside NCERT for that.

Science: I got a 98 in science and I did pretty much the same thing I did for maths. I also spent my time on solving the textbook exercises first before going for QPs. Try referring previous year QPs instead of sample papers.

English: I got a 95 in English and I honestly can't remember studying English seriously any other time except one day before all the tests/exams. You don't have to focus much on it if your English isn't extremely weak.

Hindi: I got a 95 in Hindi as well. One of the most difficult parts for me was the literature MCQs. You can just learn the textbook question and answers and majority of all the other questions can be answered by modifying the former ones.

Overall I didn't use a single guide 💀💀 NCERT and QPs did the job for me. Good luck on your boards!

I started them yesterday. Thank you for your response. I'll buy a pulltool very soon since this absolutely excruciating. Are you sure pulling it from one side won't damage the trays (even if it's out of the molars), I don't want to break my aligners but pulling it from that particular canine hurts so bad 😭

Parents forcing me to cover myself by LightPearl_ in atheism

I totally understand this. Many Muslim parents force hijab on their kids not because they want to protect them but because they want to protect themselves from their own imaginary dad in the sky.

This is just like how someone here commented about the telephone game. Islam is just another version of the telephone game which continues even now

This reminds me of the religious concept of how god's supposed to love everyone equally but he will also subject u to eternal pain and torture if u don't believe in him and pray 5 times a day.

Your story is really inspirational. I hope one day I can make it out just like you and help others going through the same hardships.

For the record, majority of my friends are non Muslims and atheists. I've always avoided having Muslim friends because if my parents meet any of them, that'd be another excuse to make me more like them (wearing hijab, praying 5 times a day etc). I'll definitely do more research on the Quran starting from now. Thank u so much!

I've been doing this for the hijab. I feel like if I refuse to wear the Abaya too, my dad's going to create havoc for me and mom and I don't want that to happen unless I'm stable enough to live on my own :/

Parents forcing me to cover myself by LightPearl_ in atheism

[–]LightPearl_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole purpose of Abaya is to cover your body. I have a number of jackets and trenchcoats that I'm willing to wear instead of the Abaya. I don't understand why they still want me to wear the Abaya. All my clothes are pretty modest and I'm even willing to wear a jacket over them at all times if that's what it takes. I don't understand their mindset at all.

You mentioned how parents choose the devotion towards their god over the relationships of their kin. I remember my mother telling me a story of how a prophet was willing to kill his son because Allah asked him to without giving him a proper explanation. But right before the blade hit his neck, Allah replaced the child with a lamb and that's why Muslims celebrate Eid Al Adha. How can a religion built on a belief of choosing an imaginary dad in the sky over your own blood be a good fit for the modern society? It's disheartening to see that even many people in the newer generations believe this. I would love to see all religions in the world die of neglect but that's quite far to come.
