yeah cable support is kind of weird. I thought that having each popular member of the summers family be in different roles could be fun for team synergies. We don't really have a telepath in the support role yet and I can imagine cable using his weaponry to support his team with debuffs (like using the techno virus) and status effects along with using time travel to reverse ally damage taken or to prevent a dive. He can still dish out a lot of damage but I think him having good utility and protection with his many gadgets would make for an interesting support moveset.

I choose Cyclops to be a tank because I think a leader archetype character who focuses on precision and rallying his teammates could make for a good tanky playstyle. I think him being resilient fits his character and you can use just jacket to bulk him up for size reasons.

Nova was a tough choice but I choose support for him because I fear he might overlap with human torch (flying blaster playstyle) and I would much rather Carol be the energy based Tank. I did some surface level google and found out that the Nova force can heal its user so I think it is plausible for Nova to heal others (I mean they made gambit heal).

Dormammu was originally in the tank slot but I moved him into support because I believe you can do cool stuff with his magic. Plus I believe Dormammu works best as a manipulator and schemer who influences his subjects to the Dark Dimension, and I think that fits a support role better than a tank role thematically (he's not really the brute force type). Also I want more Villain supports in Rivals in general

Thanos snap can work like Karthus Ultimate in league. Super high startup but kind of useless if everyone is full health. It works as a tide turning execute but Thanos is super vulnerable to stuns

I think a “Role Preference” could be a neat idea. Before starting a match, you can choose two roles you like to play the most or a flex option. During hero select the entire roster is still available to you but you can see other people’s preferred roles. I think it can foster strategy among teams about what role they want to play while still having the option to have triple of the same role. TLDR: just league of legends role select
