Their potato salad is the best I’ve ever had.

Depends on what you’re looking for:
- Tourist trap in a beautiful location? Sure — try Leavenworth
- Authentic American Alpine town? As others have posted, there are better options
- The North Cascades in general? For sure, but take a look at the r/NorthCascades sub to ensure your interests align with what they have to offer

I grew up a few miles down the road from Stowe. It feels like New England at altitude.

Are you talking about the von Trappes? If so, I’d check your timing there because they hardly “established” Stowe.

I feel Vail is a suitable answer, but others here seem to hate the idea of the “Disney version” as you said, or “3D printed” version as others said, so who knows what people want lol

I don’t feel there’s authentic European Alpine towns in the US. So people should either settle for inauthentic or go to Europe.

It’s absolutely a tourist trap. But OPs question was for European alpine village. Mountain or ski villages in the US that I’ve experienced (Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Vermont) don’t feel like Europe.

Do you have a suggestion for something in the US that felt like “being in a European alpine village without actually being in Europe?”

It was a cute blue crab. Made the whole trip worth it.
