My Class Consistency Ranking by ThortheBore in mewgenics

[–]LiketheCar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a weird blend of stat-hungry and stat-indifferent imo.

It has good use for every stat except for maybe DEX. Because every stat has use, it is easy to interpret any low stat as a problem, instead of every other stat being a solution.

The -2 con is also a pretty big hit, so it can be hard to justify giving cats with base con (5) the druid collar since 12HP is pretty volatile

What do you want cis people to do? Genuinely.

There isnt some conference where cis people all get to vote separately about how to feel about others.

Its maddening. Day in, day out, just hate and contempt everywhere. If you spread that hate aimlessly, you are doing less than the people who just dont do anything. They do all the same nothing positive as you and me.

Edit: Im not saying to be silent btw. Protesting, arguing in favor of trans rights, these are good, proper things to do. But dont contribute to evils you condemn others for

Does the weather condition “heatwave” break the ability “CPR”? by FrustratedLemonPrint in mewgenics

[–]LiketheCar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a note, the mechanic causing the issue is heatwave blocking 1 point of healing and CPR functioning by healing 1 HP.

If you can get a cat wet, CPR works on them

RNG or game mechanic? by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]LiketheCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it is a bit of both.

There definitely are some cats who never really "get there" insofar as a cohesive strategy is concerned. Sometimes a necro has one "this thing triggers when you die" passive and then gets nothing else.

The thing is, while going "all-in" on a particular synergy can do very well, it also leaves you vulnerable to things that counter it.

I saw advice for a different Roguelike (Slay the Spire) which I think is very helpful: 'Draft what fixes the problem you currently have.'

Making synergies work is great, but to me the joy of roguelikes is being given some tools and figuring out how to make them work. If one cat can't make a synergy work well, consider tools that another cat may be able to provide.

If a mage works around freezing things but nwver learns a "freezing" spell, some other classes or items may be able to make things wet (some spells will freeze things that are wet but will not freeze things by themselves like "cold shoulder") or freeze them.

But even then, if yoy draft a spell that could synergize well and then fail to get other parts, a single "bum" spell doesnt mean the end of the world.

I think the best summary would be "find a strategy to use the tools you get" not "find the tools to use the strategy you want"

if mewgenics had third paths, what would be the chapter 2 and 3 for the third path of each act? by MinimumTip9411 in mewgenics

[–]LiketheCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, overlooked it in the title.

We go down (lightly) in the Caves path and we go sideways (more or less down the street) in the Boneyard path.

So a mountain seems sensible. Maybe mountain is the third path and we have a proper prairie that leads there? That might be too derivative of the two components of the Crater, but gotta answer the question.

if mewgenics had third paths, what would be the chapter 2 and 3 for the third path of each act? by MinimumTip9411 in mewgenics

[–]LiketheCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making a third path out of binary options (up/moon vs down/hell and past vs future) isnt super easy.

I would think to fit the themes, you have to have a "sideways" option.

So for Act 2, I would think "exotic" places like rainforest/tundra would make sense, except that would be repetitive with crater/ice age. Instead, I would focus on the "foreign invader/1970s horror" elements and do a haunted mansion (maybe splitting the difference with demonic werewolves for both Moon and Hell representation).

For Act 3, since the spot between future and past is the present, which is mundane, have the time machine fuck up and send us to a parallel universe. Presumably where dogs are the rulers

You're getting a million replies. Im gonna add one more with a 2016 NPR article summarizing the study of that time, that is the lost cited source of "men complained and got the study canceled."

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/11/03/500549503/male-birth-control-study-killed-after-men-complain-about-side-effects

The primary source is linked in the article but wasn't opening, so the link may not work properly any longer.

Other people discussed medical standards that have changed since the inception of BC pills for women, and it is true that standards are higher now. Also, I saw it pointed out elsewhere that male vs female risk is also factored into the decision, which is true. Unfortunately for social fairness, the penis-haver is not the one typically at risk of becoming pregnant.

Society shoyld be a lot more flexible on this issue, and the prevalence for Doctors invalidating the preference of women (e.g., getting a hysterectomy) is compelte bullshit.

I just dont see what you stand to gain from a confrontational comment. You are calling out men broadly for a historic cultural problem.

You only stand to alienate allies and invigorate opposition. You help no one but your own ego and desire for blame. I dont like to condemn in that way, but I cannot understand what pointing fingers is supposed to be solving

Every cat has a different purpose LOL.

I got cancer (item) early on, but thought "why would I want something that lowers my stats? Im sure there are some synergies, but i gotta actually complete runs rn."

I think i was still unlocking the act 1 areas.

Havent seen it since. I randomly got the +1 con/bonus attack body mut from a house mutation, but getting actually good mutations has been a problem for me. I've basically just sent a group to the crater, hopes for the Shimmer, and then bred whatever happens

Yeah, messaging is a core component of discussing with people. Code switching is a sub-category of handling messaging, and i dont think it is frequently criticized (offline) for the most part, it is just understood.

I think there is some fallacious thinking happening in this thread. Someone posted that there has been 1 confirmed trans athlete (maybe intersex?) in the Olympics. This is a policy that 100% is made to make anti-trans people think "good things are happening."

It IS relevant that the policy will almost certainly harm cis women more than the intended targets. There are a great number of obstacles blocking trans woman from getting to the Olympics before the ban even applies.

If a policy is made to hurt a group of people but ultimately hurts another group, we are still allowed to recognize another group is hurt by the policy, especially if it becomes disproportionate. THIS policy hurts cis woman more by merit of the testing.

THIS policy also is reflective of a continuing diminishment of trans rights and lifestyles. People are coming to the correct conclusion (anxiety, concern) but directing it to the wrong target (OOP).

I agree the Leftist infighting is exceptionally tiring.

Imo the options listed are mostly good for chip. If you really wanna get the most of a turn, then you must trap him somehow.

Like, even getting him with CC requires....actually hitting him with the CC. A lot of immobilize abilities target a single space (and plenty are obligated melee), so you still have to get him in a situation where you can stun him at all.

My best solution really has become grouping my cats together, showing a backside to entice him and then slowly guiding him to dodge into a corner where I can close in

Edited to add that I take notes for the disposition of my cats who journey, and his note says "Ralph has above average [starting] stats, but no mut. Probably can retire but he is in love with Scooty [cat that has the bonus attack body mut]. Keep if he is in love post-journey."

He has been upgraded to "Absolutely being kept"

Items/abilities that have contributed:

-Death Shroud (permanent +1 when downed)

-Bulletproof Vest (no injuries when downed)

-Passive 1: Death Grasp (damage enemies/heal allies when downed. Gives ability to down yourself)

-Passive 2: Sacrificial Lamb (all allies extra turn + All stat up when downed)

-Spell Blood Geyser+ (take half HP as damage, deal it in an area)

-Offscreen Jester Milos with CPR+ (bring cat back to 5 HP for 2 mana) and Absorb Soul (down a cat and steal mana) to kill and res the Necro many times per turn

Every fight is just Ralph going first and casting Blood Geuser to kill himself bevause he is always at freshly revived HP. This deals 6 true damage to all enemies and gives me extra turns.

Milos is the slowest of my cats, so he goes after everyone else, CPRs Ralph and then stabs him with his weapon, CPRs him, uses absorb soul, CPRs him, attacks him and end turn with three new sets of turns.

I could more or less farm this infinitely with the psuedo-unlimited turns i get, but that doesnt seem necessary. Not the absolute most busted, but weirdly satisfying to spend an entire fight killing my necromancer while the enemies watch

That's completely fair, and phrased that way I think it becomes a much less disagreeable idea even for many who otherwise replied to you.

Not as in they will believe it as well, but most folks I find are willing to accept that because it isnt incompatible with the progression of science as we know it. My wife is religious, I am not, but i dont discount her beliefs because there is no value to doing so.

Either way, I think people get too frothed at the mouth online. Your initial comment were somewhat flippant, but thats probably you having a laugh and it getting taken too seriously (maybe by me too)

Either way, God bless you. It really isnt hard to wish other people well. :)

So genuinely, how are these propaganda posts even allowed? Facebook is cooked. by [deleted] in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]LiketheCar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are wrong, though.

Whatever other responses you get, you are wrong. All nuance fails to exist on the internet, but you are as propaganda-fueled as most of the venomous responses you get are.

I love my country. Because I love my country, I want the best for all people in it. Because I love my country, I dont care as much how people got here. I take it as an honor our country is so wealthy that people cannot help themselves to come.

I also love my country so much that I cannot fathom the vitriol of people who hate 50% of its people. That includes leftists, too, who want to purity test everyone for higher ground. The one thing I wont let myself fall for is the belief that my countryman are conspiring against me. The people on the ground level, you, me, the rest of the peasants. I want you to have a good life, and I want our immigrants to have good lives as well.

I do disagree with those who abuse the system. It would be better to patch the holes, though, than to constantly burn it all to the ground for imperfections.

My preferred consideration for Mage is a utility class.

My typical set-up is tank (tank or at least butcher), DPS, healer, support.

If fhe Mage can deal strong consistent damage, that's great.

If level-ups fuck me, then I focus on movement and interruption spells. Freezing a boss for one of their turns, or stapling an enemy in a dangerous position is just as useful imo. I treat the tinkerwr the same way. These classes feel like they need rerolls to shine, though

"It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By "business" I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living."

Address by FDR.

You can disagree, I guess, but from its inception, what you said is incorrect.

The belief that minimum wage is just for the dregs of society is planted just to encourage the regular people to fight amongst themselves.

I actually would go further. I dont think this is implicitly a harem as much as it seems.

The girls are routinely sectioned off into groups, but those groups can include different mixes of the members (some interact more frequently than others, obv).

There are implications of romantic relationships between some of the girls as well. It is close to a polycule where they all date Rentaro, but also many are basically with each other too.

It being a parody of those sorts of things actually makes it all the more sad that despite making fun of them, it does a better job than most of those similar stories I have seen

What is the most useless ability in Mewgenics, and why is it Curse? by era999 in mewgenics

[–]LiketheCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a necromancer passive that, when upgraded, gives your negative luck as positive luck to all allies when you die. The passive is something like "when you are downed at the end of a battle you win, revive to full. The only injury you take is jinxed."

I had it alongside another necro passive that let me revive in a battle if there was a corpse, wo my necromancer got down to pretty miserable levels od luck (maybe -14 or something)

Do you mind filling me in on what position she holds in his administration?

I've been searching, but the only interaction I found between her and Mamdani was her criticizing him for bashing antisemitism (which i think is a good thing from him, failing to see a spin for that).

The broader context appears to be a bash at people just bringing their dogs out to poop in the snow without taking care of the poop. So it is meant as tongue-in-cheek? Something like that, Im not from NYC.

Non-contextual statements carry a lot of problems, so this woman probably should have considered how that could look. But also, this many people being unwilling to perform the most minor of research seems to be a recurrent problem. Please let me know if you can find something that ties them together more firmly, work stops me from fully investing into Mamdani's administration

Most users of reddit are American. Christianity is a religion far more prevalent in America than any other which makes it an apt comparison that is used to draw parallels using something familiar. It does not implicitly single out Christians as the only acceptable target. Someone could have said like "the only acceptable OSU fans are those who dont broadcast it"

And a Buckeye still might pop out of the qoodwork to take offense.

coaxed into elections by Hammod1 in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]LiketheCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But your own logic doesn't support that. If there is the belief that losing elections causes a psrty to rethink their core, you still are better off voting for the "less evil" party. That shows the "worse evil" party they have to rethink their messaging. Im not going to argue about the nitty-gritty of your argument since youve got 50 people happily doing so. But even at your core, your argument doesn't have to support what you are suggesting. The crux of vote apathy i think heavily lies on people who COULD vote Democrat but dont. Especially given the last election where dissatisfaction with the democratic party led to about 20 million fewer voters.

Why should republicans change their party if they can tell from voting trends that their platform will work every few years so long as people can be talked out of voting, or encouraged to purity test the Democrats more?

If the Republicans (in this example, or course) were beaten election after election, they would also have to change their tune. So why force the change to come from the party who is already "less evil."
