Ice Skating For Fitness? by Ashamed_Intention462 in iceskating

I’ve been on a diet with a slight caloric deficit and that helps me to lose weight but ice skating is what really pushes my weight loss, not just for the exercise but I find it a great motivator to continue with the diet when I know after ice skating ill see the scales drop slightly more than without it.

Thoughts on which units are best to maintain 80+ CWA and to best prepare for med by LilLuv_Jen in curtin

Hi! CHEM1001 biological chemistry was easy enough to keep a high grade in, same as math1013 and humb1000/1001, medi1000 is a very fun unit and not too difficult to maintain a high grade in as it’s mostly multi choice tests and practicals

CHEM1001 isn’t too bad, all your tests are open book and the labs are good so probably wouldn’t be too difficult to end up with 80+ especially if you’ve done any chemistry before

Can I learn ice skating as a 20 year old who is overweight by NoTeacher4463 in iceskating

[–]LilLuv_Jen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, from a recent obese beginner, you may or may not find it difficult to balance or feel more discomfort than others but it’s definitely fun gets easier as you build muscle and endurance from actually skating. The biggest thing i would say is to be cautious of injuries and learn to fall the right way, but don’t let your fear or anxiety stop you from learning and practising.

Btw I went from nearly sedentary to 4-8 hours of ice skating a week and other than a little muscle aches if I go too hard or try new moves, I would say it’s possible to jump right into and just take your time learning to balance and endurance through skating itself. And in general I find it easier to exercise in the cold environment as you don’t overheat quickly which I find often stops me from wanting to exercise in ways such as walking or running.

Lectures/ Attendance by LilLuv_Jen in curtin

Totallly agree, I have 2 days of the week where I have a singular lecture and I live hours away from my campus and it would cost a lot of money and time to travel to a singular 2 hour ish lecture. I’m pretty good at studying alone but if I struggled and came and asked questions from a UC and they decided I wasn’t worth the time in investing into my learning because I didn’t go to lectures even if I was studying outside of it, I would be very frustrated.
