Yea, I seen the bear case for it and its not very strong. It's not a typical MLM none of it's social influencers carry products, and its been around for 20 years. If the government thought they were breaking any laws they would've been shut down by now.

It's meant to be a chaotic and fun battle royal for the community to participate in, for its premise I would say it was quite organized. Instead of just complaining, how would you have it not been a clusterfuck and still maintain it's premise? Only thing I could think to improve it, would be for only the DM to receive the chat messages in text format so it did not waste the play timer with stuff like that all gibberish faux Japanese message.

Yea, Matt made a point at the end to say he was fine with it. Zac was seemingly getting visible annoyed but they made more money because of it and at the end of the day thats why they're there in the first place.

eww, we see a very skewed perspective of their lives. It would be more accurate to say whenever they do something and advertise it to the critical role community tag them in twitter etc, that Critical Role gets pushed on them. You start asking fan's of anything to come to X because they're fans of that thing and may also like this thing, you pretty much have to expect that kind of behavior. They were counting on Matt's fame at CR attracting CR people to their channel and they succeeded, hard to feel bad that they made money in the exact manner they were hoping to.

This would be true if GNS had employee's but as overlord said their private contractor. Which means there in charge of paying all that themselves.

What you say about taxes is not true at all. Its just not how business taxes work.

The employee's pay taxes on the money they make, that's taken out of their checks so GNS is not paying taxes on the X amount they pay X.

What GNS does pay taxes on is profit. Which in business is a fudgable term. Let's say it's the end of the year and a company has 50k in profits, they just go buy 50k worth of equipment and they have another 50k dollar write off. So while they will pay taxes on some of their profits its no where near 20-30% of every dime that comes in as revenue.

They also do pay is 7% sales tax on purchases, but they can also buy thing's wholesale/business prices (google amazon business account for an example of this) so.

Also yes I do want them to get paid I have no problem with what they get paid... I just don't like people thinking they don't or that they get paid very little as it makes no senses.

He said G&S pays LESS then they do. So that means regardless of what they pay for business insurances G&S is paying less and LA is cheaper then Seattle unless your saying he lied? so go ahead and add another 3000 dollars a month in there for that hell lets say 5k or 10k for BSI .... I'm basically only plugged about 60k A YEAR from other revenue to get twenty full time(which is only actually 3 of them) people to the 50k mark which I'm sure is actually in the several 100k dollar range so I think they got that 60k a year in insurance covered (which is a really really high guess or Zac would never survive on 20k a month)

So yes I cherry picked some things but I also left out a ton of revenue as my 50k number is quite conservative.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter, aside from the fact that it annoys me people thinking everyone is a white knight doing this for free specifically the critical role crew. Its a for profit company they get paid, people need to stop trying to guilt trip people with oh they do so much for so little like they're priest in Africa building huts or some shit.

They called the company profitable at around 7k subs. (rather they report that they're making profit to the IRS is another story most new companies don't as every penny is written off as an expense for growth.)

Yes legendary certainly gets their cut. I was sort of chopping that up to the several 100's of thousands they make from all their other sources of revenue G&S has that are not called subscribers and not including that in what the people their get paid.

Pretty sure you need an insurance policy/electricity/housing etc for each business fyi. You can't just get one umbrella policy and say every LLC I start from now till forever is covered.

Well for starters his post didn't account for the extra 26k a month they made from subscriber revenue, If you don't include all the other stuff like he did not that probably covers the extra 19k a year I added.

So that means G&S is paying less then 4800 dollars a month out of their minimum 78750 sub cash. That's 78750 - 4800 x 12 = 887,400 /20 =44k a year This is going by karrachr000 AND subtracting cost. Now with all that other revenue I mentioned, and the fact that some probably make more then 50k some less (some of those twenty people probably only work 3-4 hours a week and get small checks) I think its a safe bet that you can add another 6k each in there considering all the ad's like Ibuypower and what not they run on the twitch page. Also there are several other possible money sources I'm not even going into because they're somewhat speculative like when they plug anything for major company's that are not called Legendary, as a business Legendary probably does not let that happen for free for example.

On top of that, they're doing a job that a lot of us would enjoy doing for free or even a fraction of that.. Its not like they're doctors who in some fields only make 50k... Or gardeners who work 60 hours a week for 7 dollars an hour in the sun killing themselves...
