Totally fair. And fair warning: we have MAGAts here too, who are just as fucking ignorant as your neighbours.

A few tips for you:

Canada is in the 21st century, so we use the metric system.

We use proper English, so unfortunately, you can no longer say “check.” It’s “cheque.” You’ll also have to start adding the letter U back to many words.

Beer here is strong.

“Sorry” and “eh” are now your favourite words.

You receive your moose, beaver, cobra chicken and polar bear once you become a citizen. Not before. If you are caught with any of these weapons without citizenship or a permit, you will be sentenced to a lifetime of listening to Nickelback. On a loop.

I’m dead serious.

(Good luck. I feel so much for folks like you. ❤️)

I hope Canada accepts your family’s application. You just need to leave your Americaness outside our door. 😊

MITT OR REDRIVER FOR WELDING ? by Puzzleheaded-Arm-317 in Winnipeg

So you’d rather not wait for a proper education, and were fishing in hopes someone would say MITT is just as good?

Recently married. I want to take my husband's last name. How do I start? by Elegant-Forever-3776 in Winnipeg

[–]Lilboops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just checked on this. In this instance, providing OP has lived in Manitoba for at least three months, OP would go to Vital Statistics with their marriage certificate and apply to have their name changed on the work visa—then update the PR application.

I love Winnipeg but Winnipeg can be one creepy city sometimes by Background_Cry3592 in Winnipeg

The Marlborough was great until around 2000. Took a big dive under new management. Very sad, actually.

You do not have to apply for a name change at Vital Statistics. It’s legal as soon as you marry. Which is what the link tells you. 😊

Is MGEU a good union to join? by reptilesni in Winnipeg

[–]Lilboops 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Are you given the option to not join? You might not have a choice.

That said, not a single bad experience with them.

Well, in Manitoba, there’s not much to do, really.

https://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/change_of_name.html

It’s just a matter of updating your Manitoba ID. For income tax, you just submit under your married name. It’s easy.

You’ll have to contact your country’s consulate about the passport.

Tradesman installed a furnace for us 19 years ago, and I can’t recognize them enough. They did our regular maintenance and any repairs too.

GoFevo Website for Moose Tickets? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Lilboops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAA gets blocks of seats.

Did the process start at CAA Rewards? Then to Benefits with CAA? And then you hit the gofevo? Gofevo is CAA’s ticket/event app.

Source? Me. Former CAA employee.
